Environmental Protection Department – Mentorship Programme 2020

INTRODUCTION This Mentorship Programme (“the Programme”) is organized by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. It aims to provide undergraduate students with the opportunities to meet our expertise so as to enhance their educational, social and personal growth through guidance and supports from their mentors. OBJECTIVES To provide an opportunity for students to learn more about the careers in the

environmental discipline; and To enhance personal development of students through interactions with their

mentors. ELIGIBILITY Local students in their second year to final year of undergraduate degree in academic year 2020-2021, preferably with engineering and/or environmental science background, are eligible to apply. OUR MENTORS Mentors are expertise in the EPD, with experience in the environmental discipline, such as waste management, air quality, water quality, noise, and environmental impact assessment etc. MENTORSHIP & ACTIVITIES The Programme will last for 12 months during the academic year 2020-2021. During the mentorship period, both mentors and mentees are encouraged to meet in a quarterly basis as mutually agreed. An opening and closing ceremony will be arranged to kick start and wrap up the Programme respectively. Also, participants will also be invited to partake in our upcoming outreach and public engagement activities.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE Students who would like to join the Programme should – (1) Complete the application form which is available at:

(2) Submit the completed application form by post, by fax or by email, on or before 31 May 2020. ANNOUNCEMENT (i) Applications with incomplete or unclear information will not be considered. (ii) Successful applicants will be notified by us via email by July 2020. Applicants who do not receive any email notification by the end of August 2020 may consider their applications unsuccessful. (iii) Selected applicants and mentors will be invited to attend the opening meeting tentatively to be held in September 2020. 3. 申請人在本申請書內所提供的個人資料，將用於有關計劃申請的事宜上。在一般情況下，未獲取錄申請人的個人資料將於其落選日期後 24 個月全部銷毀。 The personal data provided in this form will be used for programme application-related purposes. Personal data of an unsuccessful candidate will normally be destroyed 24 months after rejection of the candidate＇ s application.

4. 根據個人資料 (私隱 )條例第 18 和 22 條及附表 1 的第 6 原則，申請人有權查閱及改正所提供的個人資料。 The applicant has a right to request access to and correction of the personal data as provided in Section 18 and 22 and Principle 6 of Schedule 1 of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.

Advice provided by mentors in this programme is solely for mentee's reference. The Government of the HKSAR, staff of the EPD responsible for the programme and mentors shall not, under any circumstances, be responsible for or liable to any loss or damages of any kind incurred.
