About the PDS
• We are a network of Penn State students interested in pursuing a career in dentistry• Our goal is to help students attain their goals
during their undergraduate career in preparation for application to dental school

• Host a variety of speakers▫ Dental school admissions officers▫ Military recruiters▫ Pre-Health Committee• Other potential meeting topics include:▫ Interviews ▫ Kaplan’s Personal Statement Seminar ▫ DAT (Dental Admissions Test)▫ AADSAS (Associated American Dental Schools

• Visit/tour local dentist offices of varying specialties (i.e. Pediatric, Oral Surgery, Cosmetic, Orthodontics)• Visit dental schools in the region (i.e. Pitt,
Temple, Penn, Maryland)• Socials… any ideas? • Apparel order• Community service projects
• Orphanage Outreach or related program over Spring Break▫ Assist U.S. dentists in dental clinics▫ Teach oral health within the schools

• Participate in Penn State’s THON ▫ What is THON? THON is a year-long effort that raises
funds and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer. Fundraising culminates with a 46-hour dance marathon in February.▫ What would we do?
Pair with Penn State Pre-Medical Society? Adopt-A-Family THON 5K Fundraising
Canning trips Letter writing with THONvelopes Small business and corporate solicitation
New Requirements
• To be considered an active member of the PDS, one must attend a minimum of ▫ 2 meetings / semester ▫ 1 event (i.e. social, dental school visit) / semester
* Those who fail to attend the required amount of meetings and events will be removed from the LISTSERV at the conclusion of the semester.
