It’s a pleasure to welcome you to the Cambrian Mountains for a feast of walking during the

4th Cambrian Mountains Walking Weekend @ Bro Tregaron 2014. The ‘fes,val’ has confirmed

Bro Tregaron as a new, must-visit des,na,on for walkers. We are delighted to be able to offer

a wonderful range of routes this year again.

PUMLUMON is described by Benjamin Heath Malkin in The Scenery, An,qui,es and Biography of South Wales

published in 1803 as ‘the most dangerous mountain in Wales’ on account of frequent bogs concealed under a

smooth and apparently firm turf’, warning that it should only be aCempted with a guide who may be found in

‘a hovel near the base’. At 752 m, Pumlumon is also the highest peak in the Cambrian Mountains.

ini,a,ve launched in 2007 to encourage towns and villages to be ‘welcoming to walkers’.

There are currently four Walkers are Welcome communi,es in the Cambrian Mountains.

• Bro Tregaron - Awarded WaW status in 2010 and has already organised four walking

fes,vals and has produced a booklet to promote 7 local walks based on unique local

themes. A year-round guided walking service is available too via walktregaron.co.uk

• Devil’s Bridge - Established a walking club in 2013 and published a pack of walk routes available

from pumlumon.org.uk Enjoying walks now on the last Sunday of each month.

• Llandrindod Wells - Llandrindod Wells 'the Walking Capital of Mid Wales' has published a set of

walks for in and around the local area, these are available on llandrindodtowncouncil.co.uk.

• Llandovery - Awarded WaW status in November 2011 and has begun to establish themselves both
