Exercise 1.1 Keyword Research/Selection Process While running a google keyword search I received horrible results when using general terms. Most of the result I got were in other countries, but when I specified Dominican republic I only got results for “escuela de actuation”, at .10 per click and under 10 searches a day. For the sake of this portion of the assignment I chose to not specify Republica Dominicana and quite a few more results. The PPC results are reflected in the spreadsheet. What really opened my eyes was the searches. While using broad terms i certainly got more results, but they were invariably useless to anyone living in The Dominican Republic when doing a search for acting classes. It was similar to typing in acting school in Nebraska. You’re likely to come up with a well funded school in New York. If you are that acting school in Nebraska it serves no purpose to use a broad keyword like acting school without specifying Nebraska. The customer base of someone in nebraska for acting is so limited that specifics are necessary for the persons looking for acting lesson in Nebraska and the company operating an acting school in Nebraska. If an acting school wanted to compete with AMDA or ADA who have actors from all of the world come to them they need have deep pockets and uncanny way of turning Omaha into a theatrical or cinematic powerhouse. Until that day comes the company is better of competing against acting schools in Nebraska. I had the same reason for being specific to the dominican republic. Specification of the country and cities is paramount to obtaining optimization of the search and company can be very specific because there is little competition. Because of this I chose to specify Republica Dominicana when doing my searches, the same as anyone else that attempted to look for acting schools in this country.
