Over the past few years, Soilmechave endeavored to consi-derably broaden its horizons in the microdrilling field.In the new manufacturing facility located in Asolo, near Tre-

viso (north-east Italy) spreading over an outdoor area of 13000m2, 8,000 m2of indoor space, Soilmecwill be designing, assemb-ling and testing the entire microdrilling and tunneling range.

In doing so, Soilmecset to meet the stringent requirementsof ground engineering specialists with a vast production rangingfrom 3 to 35 ton hydraulic rigs, with an ample choice of fixedand articulated booms, and from 15 to 120 ton for tunnelingequipment.

Each model name, indicates the weight class of the rig. Therange includes dedicated equipment forSoil Investigations(spe-cifically PSM-8G & PSM-16G in both crawler and truck moun-ted versions), low enthalpy Geothermal Energy (PSM-8GT &PSM-16GT) andtunneling(ST-15, ST-30, PST-60, ST-120), mo-re precisely half and full section consolidations.

The latest additions, the versatile PSM-3 & PSM-5, whichrespectively position into 3 and 5 ton class market segments, canperform micropiles, tie-backs and jet grouting treatments. Theyare conceived and designed to execute renovations and conso-lidations in restricted areas.

ThePSM-8andSM-14, with a selection of articulations, canperform drilling works of various applications, including jetgrouting treatments to depths of 12 and 16.5 m.

Thanks to their robust structure, PSM-20, SM-18andSM-21are for larger drilling and consolidation works. They all have in-creased hoist & feed systems as well as high torque power.

For very deep jet grouting treatments and vertical drilling,SM-30completes the range. This rig can in fact reach treatmentdepths of 55 m

At the beginning of March, Turkey's first unit ofPSM-8G, avery modern and strong, boring and micro-piling rig, has startedto work. And its first project, PSM-8Ghas become very succes-full and highly appreciated.

PSM-8G, designed mainly for geognostic use, it can also beused for conventional continuos diamond coring and for wire-line coring up to depths of 350 m.

The high-precision coring is the result of the rig's fixed kine-tic mechanism with a large section drill mast which also housesthe push-pull piston system, not only ensuring hydraulic balan-ce, but also more gradual manoeuvring that protects the tooland the sample.
