Reading Read the story and then answer the sentences. London Calling What makes London so special? Is it the London Eye, the Tate Gallery, or even the Royal Albert Hall? Or are all the sport events, including the fact, that London was chosen to host the 2012 Olympic Games, responsible for London’s attraction? Scholars argue in a different way. London in the 21st century is one of the most diverse cities where more than 300 languages are spoken. Furthermore, London has 50 nationalities with populations of more than 10,000. Those are the facts, but what is the explanation? Business is the key factor for London’s attraction. People come for jobs and money here although Londoners have the fewest bank holidays in Europe and work the longest hours. Another reason is: language. People from all over the world come to practice their language skills and stay because fluency in English seems to be a great gift for their children. Surprising but true is the fact that people in this city – Londoners are not known for their friendliness – leave you alone and free to live your own life. And, believe it or not, food is a delicious point to prove London’s diversity. Seven days and nights per week you have the choice of meals from seventy different nationalities. Foreign food not only creates a huge choice of different dishes but also thousands of jobs for new communities. So, not only places of cultural interest and sport events are important for London’s attraction, the city has much more to offer. Nevertheless, as soon as people can afford to move out of the city, they look for a place less busy near London. Are the sentences true or false according to the article?: 16. London is most popular because of its sport events. true false
