ENDANGERED ANIMAL SPECIES

ALMOST INTO EXTINCTION? WHY?
Animals are essential to maintain the circle of life and the food chain. It is just not the animals, but insects, reptiles, and aquatic animals are all interdependent on each other, and even on plants and humans and their habitats.
4
GALAPAGOS GIANT TORTOISE
Lives only on the Galapagos Islands. It is endangered because people catch them for food and people also brought animals to the island that tortured the Galapagos Giant Tortoise.

SIGNS OF HOPE FOR GALAPAGOS GIANT TORTOISE
Thanks to conservation activities, the once endangered Galapagos Giant Tortoise is slowly increasing.
However, there are subspecies that are already extinct, and a subspecies that will become extinct when the last-surviving male tortoise dies. It is important that we never repeat these mistakes again.

YELLOW-CRESTED COCKATOO
Live on the Indonesian IslandsVery popularCaptured where they are being bought and sold on the black market.
People take them as a pet

YELLOW-CRESTED COCKATOO
When they are excited, those yellow feathers stand up backwards like the shape of a rooster's comb.

GIANT PANDA
Live in the forests of ChinaThey live in small groups in many small forests, and it's very hard for male pandas to find mates. They're even having trouble finding their joy and might lead to extinction.

LET'S BUILD PATHS TO SAVE THE PANDAS! In China, the number of people is growing. Homes and farms are being built here and there in the forests and all of forests that the pandas live are scattered.
By building paths, all of the separate forests that the pandas live in will be connected. To do this, some farmland will have to be returned to nature.

WHY ARE THESE SPECIES’ HABITAT DISAPPEARING AND BEING POLLUTED?
The fact is that it has a lot to do with how we humans live
• Global warming
• Water pollution
• development
23
GLOBAL WARMING
The temperature of the earth is rising. This is causing problems for some animals because the environment is changing.
e.g polar bears – Loss of habitat is most vividly seen in the Arctic, where global warming is melting the glaciers, pushing the polar bears into extinction.
Prevention
i. Reduce, reuse, recycle
24
WATER POLLUTION
The rivers, lakes, ponds, and seas where animals live are being polluted by the garbage that people threw away.
Chemicals from factories will pollute the rivers or seas and this might kill the fish.
Prevention:- i. Give fines
25
DEVELOPMENT
People continue to build on more land so there are now fewer places where animals can live.
Animals are driven away when people cut down trees to use as timber or to make fields and roads (deforestation)
Preventioni. Make forest reserves .ii. Give fines for illegal loggings.
26
WHY WE NEED TO PREVENT THEM FROM EXTINCTION?
DO YOU WANT THESE ATTRACTIVE CREATURES
DISAPPEARED???!!!
27
All of the endangered species must be
protected and saved so that future generations
can experience their presence and value!
