Hendrefoilan Newsletter Contents Welcome Back Clubs and Activities Defibrillator Dates

Monday 8th January 2018 Dear Parents,

Welcome BackWelcome to Hendrefoilan Primary School, 2018. I hope that you all had a restful and healthy break and are ready to face the challenges and successes that 2018 brings. We are looking forward to you joining us for a fun and exciting New Year.

Mr Webb, the Classteachers and I will be in the yard every morning this week to welcome you and the children. Next week, I will be at the main school gate and Mr Webb will ring the bell in bottom yard. If you would like to see Mr Webb or me when you drop your child/children off in the morning, we can chat briefly from 8.30 am to 8.50 am. If I am on duty at the front gate, you can chat with me there or speak to Mr Webb and he will pass important messages on to me and/or help in any way he can with your query.

Providing all children are safely into class, I am usually free for a drop in chat from 9 – 9.10 am every day. If you cannot wait, you can always make an appointment for a longer meeting with me or any other teacher, via the main school office.

I will stand at the front gate and monitor punctuality at the start of the school day, every day next week. Do not press ‘snooze’ and remember the bell is rung at 8.50 am!

Clubs and Activities Breakfast and After School Clubs starts back on Tuesday 9th January 2018. ‘In school’ activities (Art Club, Choir, Orchestra, School Council, Eco Council and the School

Newspaper) resume next week. After school activities (Football, Netball and Cross Country) also resume next week. Brass and Woodwind lessons start on Tuesday 9th January 2018. Violin lessons are on Wednesday 10th January, for this week only, thereafter every Tuesday.

Defibrillator Over the past 10 years, Mr Lee Dennis (a school parent with two children at Hendrefoilan) has been trying to enter the London Marathon. This year, Mr Dennis has a spot on the start line for the 2018 race. Mr Dennis is gaining sponsorship to raise money for Hendrefoilan. The money raised will buy a defibrillator for Hendrefoilan Primary School.

Every day, someone saves a life using a Defibrillator; even if they have never seen one before, it will talk them through exactly what is required, in a calm and reassuring voice. If you have access to a Defibrillator, the chance of saving a victim of cardiac arrest is increased.

Mr Dennis is planning to raise £1000 to have the Defibrillator fitted and purchase a seven year care package, which consists of full training for staff which is refreshed annually, regular servicing and maintenance.
