Skeptic as we always are about some aspects of the Costa, we cannot help noticing how many are offering a UK TV program service since the satellite was replaced with the sad loss of basic programs such as BBC, ITV and so on.

This note is just to make you aware that all these programs and quite a bit more are available on the internet FOR FREE at www.filmon.com and can also be watched on your TV screen.

Some of the latest TV sets can be connected to the internet but most other sets can be joined to your computer or laptop by way of a HD (High Definition) cable that can be purchased quite cheaply even at the Chinese stores and “hey presto” there you are, watching Eastenders.

There is no real need to pay subscriptions, buy boxes or any-thing else. The service is free but if you choose to be a mem-ber or pay a subscription, you can get a higher quality picture and a few other benefits direct from the suppliers used by intermediaries at the moment. I find the free service quite good enough for me.

made” times, mostly caused under the

pretext of religion. I just knew it wasn’t a

good idea to bring home to Spain the two affected

Ebola patients. How careless! Let’s hope the nurse

did not contact anyone who lives in Andalucia, one of

the places in the world so far unaffected by all these

problems.

Meanwhile the Season of Goodwill is fast approaching

with just 10 weeks to Christmas day. Let’s hope that

Goodwill starts to touch the heart of these causes.

Ciertamente vivimos tiempos problemáticos “hechos

por el hombre”, principalmente causados con el

pretexto de la religión. Acabo de saber que no fue una

buena idea traer a casa los dos pacientes afectados de

ébola. ¡Que descuidados! Esperemos que la enfermera

no contactase con alguien que viva en Andalucía, uno

de los lugares en el mundo menos afectados por esos

problemas.

Mientras tanto la estación de La Voluntad de Dios se

aproxima rápidamente, solo 10 semanas para navidad.

Esperemos que la Voluntad de Dios empiece a tocar los

corazones para esas causas.

RELIGION & CREED:

THE EXCUSEIn spite of the many differences among Christians, Jews, Muslims and others, they all share a fundamental belief in a compassionate and a just God.

The Koran repeatedly refers to God as compassionate and just. It also says that “there is no compulsion in religion” (2:256) because submission to God must be freely chosen, not forced (Ali).

Well this is what most religions preach, yet, on the other side of the story, it is estimated that some 1.5 million people were killed by Crusaders (1095-1291) in the name of God, and that included some Christians.

Some sources list the figure of

Christians killed by Romans at as nearly 100,000 up to 313 AD. No one knows exactly how many victims were claimed by the Spanish Inquisition, different estimates vary between 31,000 and 135,000.

The worst war in this century, WW2, was judged not to have religious causes yet an estimated 6 million people were tortured and killed because they were Jews.

Other references suggest that an estimated 270 million people were killed in the

name of god in the 1400 years history of Islam.

When you add to this Russia and all other religions and creeds the number of deaths

in the name of god or religion is simply astronomical. Perhaps the most honest killings have been done by those who did not hide the true reason for killing and plundering, like the Vikings for example.

Religion does not kill anyone; the real reason behind wars and massacres is greed for power, money and territory. How many valuable objects and gold have been stolen

by the Nazis? Not to mention power and territory.

What war can be holy when the moral obligation is to annihilate innocent people in god’s name? When animals kill they kill to eat, what does this make humankind?

Priests, religious leaders and also politicians are no more than a bunch of hypocrites looking for excuses to wage war for other unreligious reasons while causing people to have to defend themselves.

After thousands of years of brother killing brother for whatever reason, the extra shame is for those using religion as an excuse. What is the answer? What can be done constructively to stop this carnage?

As the Koran states (see above), submission to God must be freely chosen, intending one’s God whatever the religion. This means that people have to be educated to the true meaning of these words, unfortunately you cannot educate adults, which is too late. Today’s killers are yesterday’s children. We need to educate children before adulthood and the better qualified persons to educate children are their mothers.

We have seen that integration does work, just look at the mix of races and religions in ‘educated’ countries. It may have taken one or even two generations of education in tolerance and respect for others’ beliefs, encouraged by mothers, to reach harmony in places where hatred existed between colour and religion. But this God intended progress

is definitely ´sabotaged´ when children are forced to attend belligerent, perverted religious classes in schools, right under our noses.

I believe that it is time that mothers and future mothers should start to take

their role seriously and refuse to submit to be demeaned

by men, beaten and even stoned to death. What kind of god condones or even encourages this? What kind of god forbids proper school education for girls? What kind of

god permits children to be taken away or distanced

from their mothers so they can be shown how to use guns,

to hate and to feel no remorse for killing? It is unnatural!

Leaving God aside, the greatest lesson even comes from nature itself observing the animal world, where mothers care for their offspring until they are able to understand and fend for themselves, and even defend them against the father.

Is it perhaps the case that these women should be educated to stand their ground, defend their rights and have the freedom to educate their children as they should be?

Spoken words are not always necessarily true, however your subconscious speaks the truth through body posture and gestures; this is the concept. When the subconscious mind speaks this way to another subconscious mind it is simply a question for the conscious to perceive the message.

Therefore if you can learn and train yourself to observe and listen to this non verbal communication in theory you should be able to pick up if the other person is lying, telling the truth, flirting and so on. On the downside it gets a bit more complicated when the other person, having mastered some non verbal communication, is in control of his body signals and causes them to lie along with the spoken word.

BODY LANGUAGE

4. When you see her sitting with one leg tucked up under her, her knee could be pointing at the person she is attracted to.

For the fried potatoes• 1kg/2lb

4oz potatoes peeled and cut into 3cm/1¼oz chunks

• 4 tbsp mustard oil or vegetable oil

• 1 tsp ground turmeric

For the sauce• 3 tbsp vegetable Oil• 2 Indian bay leaves• ¼ tsp asafoetida• 1 medium, onion

very finely chopped• 6 garlic cloves,

finely crushed• 5cm/2in fresh root

ginger finely grated• 1 tsp Kashmiri chilli

powder• 1 tsp ground cumin• 1 tsp

ground coriander• ½ tsp amchur

(dried mango powder)

• ½ tsp ground turmeric

• ½ tsp salt• 200g/7oz Frito

tomato • 2 green chillies

sliced lengthways into thin strips, with or without seeds according to preference

• 150g/5½oz frozen peas

• 1 tsp garam masala• Handful

chopped coriander leaves, to finish

Ingredients

1. Boil the potatoes in a pan of salted water for eight minutes until just tender, then drain well. Heat the oil in a heavy-based saucepan or karahi over a medium-high heat, add the potatoes and fry for five minutes, or until golden-brown. Add the turmeric and fry for 30 seconds. Remove from the heat.

2. For the sauce, heat the oil in another pan over a medium-high heat. Add the bay leaves and fry for one minute, then add the asafoetida and stir. Add the onion and fry for five minutes; then add the garlic and ginger and fry for five minutes, or until softened and lightly golden-brown.

3. Add the chilli powder, cumin, coriander, amchur, turmeric and salt and fry for one minute, then add the tomato passata, green chillies and 100ml/3½fl oz water and stir together. Add the fried potatoes, reduce the heat to medium, cover the pan and cook for 10 minutes, adding a splash of water if anything catches on the bottom of the pan.

4. Add the peas and garam masala and cook uncovered for 3-4 minutes, or until the peas are cooked. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve.

Preparation method

This is a favourite curry of mine, very common in India using few ingredients, mainly bits of leftovers. It can be hard or easy to make, it is up to you, I could say just boil potatoes, fry them with garam masala, add some tomato, chilli, turmeric, salt and, if you like peas throw in some frozen ones just before the end.

Although It is easy to find, if you don´t see it just follow that wonderful aroma that comes from the kitchen.

‘Jaipur Purple’ is certainly set to make its mark on the Costa del Sol. Although the prices are reasonable, the décor and ambience reflect a quality ambience.

You cannot but notice and feel the cleanliness and high standard of décor which reflects on the quality cuisine that they offer. I tried it and it really is very good indeed.

The menu is reasonably priced and very extensive in order to offer a wide variety of

regional cuisines native to India. This gives diners the opportunity to decide between flavours and spicy hot dishes excellent for those who have not tried Indian cuisine before. All dishes on the menu are also available as Takeaways or Home Deliveries.

What is interesting is that Jaipur Purple also offer the additional service to cater for small or large events. If you wish to book you company’s dinner in a restaurant that will be remembered, this is the time to do it. And there is no parking problem as in so many other places.

Argentinian beef is the most sought after beef in the world for its quality as well as the country’s way of cooking it on a charcoal or wood fire grill.

GAUCHOS is the newest Argentinean restaurant recently opened at Laguna Village, in Estepona and I think it is probably the place to best enjoy a truly Argentinian style barbecue on the Costa del Sol.

Personally I cannot resist the aroma of beef cooking on a charcoal grill, that delicious aroma is far too irresistible, so I just had to try it. Believe me it was well worth it!

The beef is imported from Argentina and the size and thickness of my steak was almost

more than I could handle, what’s more it was cooked to perfection, just as I had asked “Medium rare”. It really touched the spot! It was the nicest steak I ever had in a restaurant between Marbella and Gibraltar.

Of course a full supporting menu is also available, including a menu for children.

I shall be telling you more about this new restaurant where you can enjoy a really good meal within the beautiful setting of Laguna Village and a relaxing view.

If you really like proper beef as it is meant to be, this is the place to visit with the added bonuis of easy parking.

На ежедневной основе, если вы не в состоянии заплатить ипотеку или кредит на протяжении трёх последовательных месяцев, даже если вы и не являетесь банкротом, у банка или кредитора появляется право завладеть залогом, внесённым за кредит, без каких-либо уведомлений, даже если залогом является ваш дом.

Кроме того, необходимо помнить, что если вы осуществили перерасход на вашем банковском счету или не заплатили хотя бы один платёж по любым займам — ваша кредитная карточка будет заморожена мгновенно.

В случае банкротства, подходящим решением может быть подача заявления о банкротстве (исп. «concurso de acreedores») в испанский суд. Главное преимущество в том, что таким образом можно остановить начисление процентов по долгам, а также остановить изымание имущества. Для реструктуризации долгов и расчётов выплат на допустимом уровне будет назначен администратор. Это лучше, чем ждать пока кредитор форсирует петицию о банкротстве, давая ему тем самым, контроль над ситуацией.

Должник обязан подать заявление о банкротстве в течение двух месяцев с момента возникновения состояния неплатёжеспособности, чтобы избежать

возбуждения иска кредиторами. Кредитор должен подать заявление о банкротстве, как только он/она предвидит банкротство.

Ходатайство о банкротстве должно быть подано до коммерческого суда (исп. «Juzgado de lo Mercantil») и вам потребуется адвокат. Обратите внимание, что вы должны предоставить подтверждение неплатёжеспособности или неизбежного банкротства — неуплата пары счетов не является доказательством.

But lurking in the background, like an elusive scent behind the more familiar “in yer face” pong of coconut after sun and Hawaiian Tropic, is that almost extinct creature, the “went away to find myself ”.

Back in the “swinging 60’s”, when, if you didn’t disappear up some mountain somewhere you were the odd one out, Spain was great because it is full of mountains without being too far away and although you didn’t get to meet the Dalai Lama, no doubt you were too stoned to know that “Jose from Jimena” wasn’t in fact the Dalai Lama.

So, forty plus!! Yes, some forty plus years later, what has happened to these higher mortals? Well, scratch under the surface of the everyday folk, living and working and leading ordinary lives in Spain, and not as windswept and interesting as they would have their green with envy friends back in Blighty believe, and there they still are, as reclusive as a badger with a secret, but still spreading peace, love and bad paintings around like confetti.

Listening to me you would think that I have some kind of chip on my shoulder in respect of these lentil-eating, dog saving, bad art campo dwellers. On the contrary, in fact I think we need more of them! My family and I lived in Spain, the Real Spain that is, over thirty years ago, in what was then an un-spoilt mountain village, and, although I was a child at the time, I was privileged to have met some of the original “Scooby Doo” types.

Now, living on the Coast, to be frank, I am finding it a bit like Great Yarmouth with palm trees. One English bar, near

where I live, even has a group of ladies of genteel disposition who meet to play Bridge and drink lemon tea. Yes, Bridge if you don’t mind! You can’t move for the “Big Screen Sport’s Bars” and even the Spanish bars sell bacon without bristles! Where will it all end?

What happened to the “Free Spirits”? I hate to say it, but they seem to have become respectable, there are a few old timers happily smoking and drinking themselves slowly to death, and, fair play to them, I am glad to say “not a compromise in sight”. But on the whole, the new crop has wandered a long way from the path of enlightenment.

The modern day “Velma” and “Shaggy” come to us hot foot from a killing on their “Right to Buy” council house, bringing a variety of elderly pets with them, two point four scared stiff children and an outdated desire to find and buy a bit of the “Real Spain”.

It is a sad fact, however that the “Real Spain” has long gone, “Jose from Jimena” sold it to Taylor Woodrow for more millions than he could fit on his “mulo” and anyway could these modern day drop outs from society really live in the “Eldorado” of the past?

Way back then the “finca” on the “campo” consisted of four damp walls, a leaky asbestos roof, no water, no electricity and no toilet facilities, a place that even “Man Friday” would swim to freedom from.

So what does all this tell us? Quite simple really, “the Real Spain” has been sold, the Spanish bars have sold out, the finca on the campo is a home from home and the original “free spirits” had necks as hard as jockeys’ b****cks!!

So did anyone ever really “find himself ”’ or did they just get lost trying?

It is time to wake up to an economic disease that is growing right here on the Costa del Sol, a disease born under the pretext that we have a recession.

Of course the shortage of money has reflected on businesses performance, businesses that have and still do try to find ways to reduce their costs in order to maintain a reasonable level of sales. Stating the obvious, unfortunately there comes a point where it is no longer profitable to run the business.

While consumers keep looking for cheaper and cheaper, there comes to a point when what they buy is not what it is meant to be. What I mean to say is that you can buy a gold ring at a fair price or you can buy one from the “looky looky” man

that turns your finger green or you can buy an original brand shirt from a Facebook page that will fade as you drink your coffee on the terazza.

That ring and the shirt have been bought at the expense of the business that has lowered its prices while encouraging the cheaters and others to continue with their deceit. This applies throughout the spectrum of goods and services creating what I call the leeches of society not only through Facebook and “looky looky” men but also via cheap publications that “cheaply” cater for them.

Quite rightly taxi drivers have objected to private pirate taxis;. a taxi license can cost from €100K to €275K before insurance and the rest, while the pirate uses his car without adequate

insurance and other costs. What about those who advertise food and cooking from home? To handle food you need a license, just as you need a health certificate and a complaints book. This represents business lost by bona fide restaurants who are crying out for business.

These so called illegal businesses and those who promote them or sponsor them are guilty of contributing to unemployment and to the recession.

I think it is up to the consumer to be aware and refuse to support these leeches of society and even expose them; after all you could get poisoned by that food or be crippled in the pirate taxi with no recourse or compensation in either case.
