RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

1. Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agriculture University, Parbhani

Ph.D. Researcher (2011-2016)

Doctoral thesis research conducted with Dr. D.B. Deosarkar

Title: Genetic evaluation for yield, yield contributing characters and fibre

quality in upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.).

Investigated impact of genotype x environment interaction on heterozygotes

and homozygotes genotypes for yield stability to determine most stable

population type across varying range of environments. Stability was

measured in terms heterobeltiosis, gene effects and regression model.

M. Sc. Researcher (2009-2011)

Master’s thesis research conducted with Dr. S. U. Charjan

Title: Studies on heterosis and combining ability analysis in maize

(Zea mays L.).

1. Researched heterosis and combining ability in newly developed inbred

lines of maize to exploit it for hybrid development.

2. Acquired sufficient expertise in crossing and evaluation programme of

mustard for drought tolerance. Demonstrated efficacy of mustard lines to

regeneration potential for tissue culture studies.

3. Explored eastern Vidarbha for germplasm collection of lathyrus. Verified

there similarity and diversity with released varieties.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

To investigate the components of crop yield stability to achieve stable yield performance across the environments by assessing genotype x

environment interaction. Stability observed between population types differing for levels and types of diversity are dependent on the genetic

architecture, trait studied, mating design, stability statistic used for the analysis and the number of environments tested for population types. I

recognised that by verifying exact interaction and magnitude of impact of environment on all these factors, stable yield performance could be achieved

across the different environments.
