Luanne Arredondo QuickNotes Editor [email protected] 626-703-3041 District Announcements February is Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution Month Through Rotary service projects, peace fellowships, and scholarships, our members are taking action to address the underlying causes of conflict, including poverty, inequality, ethnic tension, lack of access to education, and unequal distribution of resources. At our six Rotary Peace Centers we train leaders on how to prevent and mediate conflict in communities and internationally. The Rotary Action Group for Peace gives Rotarians resources and support to advance world peace and turn community ambitious ideas into life-changing realities. Clubs have taken on such projects as addressing bullying, providing assistance to domestic violence shelters, and helping immigrants integrate into society and find jobs. During this month a topic for discussion around a meeting table might be: What can our club do to address an issue in our community to make it a more peaceful place for all of us.
