Discrimination is when we treat someone differently because of something they cannot control, like their skin color.

It is still common in the world, but it is more hidden now.

Women are usually paid less than men.
Sexism often the belief that women are weak or incapable.
Religious discrimination
Some people hate people of other religions. Religious discrimination is common in some places, and can be the cause of violence.
Disability discrimination
This is discrimination against people who are handicapped.
Sexual orientation discrimination
Many people, (usually very religious) hate homosexuals.
In some countries, people are killed or go to jail for being gay.
ageism
Ageism is discrimination based on age. It is usually against old people.

• In America, it is very important to be careful what you say. It is easy to make people angry.
