CONGREGATIO PRO CLERICIS Response to petitions on the
Closure of St. Winefride’s Church “… It appears that there may still be some confusion
as to the status of the former parish church of St
Winefride, so perhaps I could assist by clarifying the status of the building. It was reduced to secular but
not unbecoming use (cf.can.1222:1). As such, it
lost its dedication (cf.can. 1212) and ceased to be
a sacred building intended for divine worship
(cf.can. 1214). A hierarchical recourse against that
decree was rejected by this Congregation on 20 April 2013, and subsequently by the Supreme Tribunal of
the Apostolic Signatura on 9 August 2013. I do
appreciate that has been a painful decision, but
the question is settled and will not be reopened.
Since November 2012, therefore, there has been no parish church in the parish of St Winefride. Having
received your correspondence, this Dicastery was
concerned to ascertain what steps are currently being
taken to resolve this situation. The Diocesan Bishop
has now fully explained his proposals to provide a
parish church and I can confirm that this Congregation is satisfied with those proposals….”

RCIA: The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults or
Ordo Initiationis Christianae Adultorum (OICA) is a process in
the Catholic Church for prospective ADULT converts to
Catholicism. Candidates are gradually introduced to aspects of
Catholic beliefs and practices. The basic process applies to
adults and older children, with younger children initiated
through an adapted version referred to as the Rite of Christian
Initiation of Children (RCIC). For RCIA Candidates, it is a period
of reflection, prayer, instruction, discernment, and formation.
Those who enter the process are expected to begin attending
Holy Mass on a Sunday, attend a weekly RCIA session, and to
become increasingly involved in the activities of their local
parish. The RCIA process is overseen throughout every period
and step by the Parish Priest. However, the week-to-week
administration of the process, including its teaching element,
is increasingly being undertaken by lay Catholic Catechists.
Our Parish RCIA catechist is REUBEN PURCHASE. We are
glad to have some candidates who have come forward to
discern their inner call. The sessions will begin in the end of
September. If you know of anyone who is keen to join the
process, kindly contact Fr. Paul or Reuben. Kindly keep all
those involved in RCIA in your prayers. Thanks

NATIONAL EUCHARISTIC PILGRIMAGE & CONGRESS
LIVERPOOL 07 – 09 SEPTEMBER, 2018: A National
Eucharistic Pilgrimage and Congress will be held in Liverpool
next year. Participants at the Congress will take part in a series
of Catechesis, focusing on different dimensions of the Eucharist
and the daily celebration and adoration the Blessed Sacrament.
James Torrance has very kindly agreed to be the representative
for Menevia, working with Christian Mahoney from Cardiff, and
he will disseminate information about this Pilgrimage to
Parishes. He has been asked him to use Deaneries as hubs for
getting information to everyone in the Diocese. For further
details please contact James on [email protected]
VOCATIONS: “Called Beyond" is a project developed by
the National Office for Vocation, which has produced an
introductory video to highlight this venture:
https://vimeo.com/219079049 with the password: Exodus. "Called
Beyond" could enable parishes to engage with the 2018 General
Assembly of the Synod on Youth, Faith and Vocational
Discernment and lay the foundations for their response.
The Holy Cross Parish Community, Aberaeron,
would like to thank all who supported by attendance, donations, or prizes at the Tombola, and those who gave their time for preparing and delivering a fine barbecue , a first course and desert at our BBQ last Sunday. We raised £110 for the Church Maintenance Fund. But more than that, we are proud that how a community working together, can make visitors, holiday makers feel welcome and have fun and fellowship while still sharing our faith and commitment to the future of the Church.
