Caution please, pickpockets!
Due to an increased police presence, Barcelona is a fairly safe city. Yet as in other major cities, there are pickpockets. Therefore, pay attention to your valuables and belongings especially in crowded places. Leave the valuables you do not need onsite at your hotel.
Another advice: copy your identification documents and take them with you instead or scan the documents and keep them in your email account. This can be of great ad-vantage in case of an emergency.
