ALDEIA SESC THEATER AND DANCE 2011

EDITORIAL

Aldeia SESC of Theater and Dance its a national

event that occurs once a time per year since 2008

here in Vitória organized by the SESC institution.

After those years having bad experiences with

the design of the graphic material produced, they

hired us to do a better job.

It was a lot of graphic pieces including a catalogue

of 36 pages, a folder with the event program, ban-

ners, tickets, e-flyers, certificate, posters, t-shirts

and the logo of the event.

Two sided folder of 11x15 cm size. Fold into 5 parts represented by the dotted lines.

Above we have the study of colors from the logo used in all visual program of the event. The main concept is about the name of the event called Aldeia, that means a village or a town of native brazilian indians. So we try to use woodcutting traces and symbols that represents a roots human society. The colours repre-sent the arts of dancing and acting on the theater.

Above the cover of the catalogue of 36 pages with 20x20 cm size. At right we have the two models of t-shirts. The red one used by the production and the grey used by the participants.

EXPO JAVALA COLLECTIVE EXHIBITION

EXHIBITION

Expo Javala presents a photographic exhibition that uses the screen and the expansion

processes of the hyper-real image in three dimensions to recreate natural aspects

from Sítio Javalí: a small ranch located at Viana-ES. The Collective Expurgação aims

to demystify the creative art, design and it’s social process produced. So we don’t use

just photography, but video, silk-screen, posters, sounds and music, painting and other

formats and suports to bring the diversity of things that we produce.

On the vernissage we performed an interactive sound jam session with live projections

to interact with people. All the exhibition was thinked for the specific place that was the

House 16, where other collective survives living and producing art.

Above and left, images of the silk-screen process where we work with different colours to bring the 3D appearence when the subject uses the 3D glasses, giving a perception of different plans through color.

Above we have two samples of the photographies that were pressed at the 90x60 cm size each.

EXPURGAÇÃO PORTFOLIO 2008-2010

EDITORIAL

At the begginning of this year we released

a portfolio with works between the

years of 2008 to 2010. We printed 50 copies

to give for special and future clients.

I work as Art Director on the graphic

project of the volume that had 44 pages.

I have used some mixing of photographs

from our production that includes music

performances, social workshops, events,

exhibitions, audio production and videos.

Every session of the portfolio had an especial image composed with the logo elements.

With a photographic style we abuse from photomontage, mixing different images.

Expurgação is a collective of art which I

have participated as a founder. It is almost

5 years old, having evolved from jamming

sessions at University. This year we

were selected to receive a prize from the

Ministry of Culture to develop our website

that the beginning of 2007. I’m working

at this project right now as a coordinator,

working with a team of 7 persons: designer,

web-designer, journalist, researchers,

collaborators and an executive producers.

The website is still under development,

and the official launch will be in 2012.

The logo was modified to have a better adequacy to the digital medium. Even in that digital way, we did a stencil to get some textures on the type.

O Projeto Últimos Refúgios estará presente na XXII Feira do Verde entre 22 e 27 de novembro, na Praça do Papa, em Vitória-ES. Neste ano o tema do evento é “Sociedade Sustentável X Sociedade de Consumo – De que lado você está?”. Dessa maneira, busca-se fomentar questionamentos sobre o atual modo de vida em que a sociedade e a economia se encontram: qual direção pretendemos seguir e quais ações realizamos para garantir um objetivo de mudança... Começa no dia 21 (segunda-feira) a “6ª Mostra Sinergia – Transposições de Linguagens”, uma produção do curso de Artes Cênicas da UVV. A mostra vai até o dia 23, e será realizada no Cineteatro da UVV e no Teatro de Vila Velha. Serão trabalhadas, por meio de palestras, as transposições: teatro-cinema, música-cinema e teatro-cinema.

O fotógrafo e designer gráfico Leonardo ‘Léo’ Merçon, durante o curso de Desenho Industrial na UFES, no ano de 2006, idealizou e conseguiu publicar o livro Últimos Refúgios: Parque Estadual Paulo César Vinha, com fotografias e informações sobre a natureza presente nesta área de preservação ambiental. Hoje no ano de 2011 ele é o coordenador geral do projeto Últimos Refúgios que está lançando um livro e um documentário intitulado Últimos Refúgios. LEIA MAIS

Começou ontem (07/11) e vai até o dia 12 de novembro o 18º Vitória Cine Vídeo. O festival é gratuito e apresenta curtas (a partir das 19h) e longas (a partir das 21h) na Fábrica do Trabalho (Av. Vitória com Av. Paulino Muller). Além dos filmes exibido lá, acontece o “Festivalzinho” de vídeos no Cine Metropolis (UFES), Cinema na Praia (Curva da Jurema) e estreia nesse ano o Festival 4 Estações apresentando filmes dedicados ao público LGBT... FEPASCHOAL & OS EXPURGADORES TOUR 2009

POSTER

Fepaschoal & Os Expurgadores is a band

that was formed within the Expurgação

Collective. Led by the composer Fernando

Boechat (Fepaschoal), the band made a

tour through the countryside of the State

of Espírito Santo. It was 6 shows and

they needed to produce posters at size

A2 (42x52,4 cm) to promote the tour on

the cities.So we developed a hand crafted

made poster using stencil and digital

photograph to capt into the computer,

put the information about the shows,

sponsor’s logos and then print it.

This is the first sketch maded by Fepaschoal himself. Then we worked on it to make the stencil with the name of the band on his head.

The advantage of a hand craft project is that you have many possibilities of application. So this helps to find the right visual solution to the poster.

This is the final poster with the sponsor logos and informations about the show.

NOARETÉRIO EXPURGAÇÃO’S 1st ALBUM

CD COVER

In the end of 2010, the collective

Expurgação released their first album

called Noaretério. The album had 7

tracks that were composed by individual

components of the group. Many musicians

and artists associated or not with the

collective performed different kinds of

instruments as saxophone, harmonica,

sitar, trumpet, drums, bass and guitars

invited by the collective members.The

album was recorded to be distributed free

through the internet, but we decided to

make some physical copies to sell also.

To represent all the multiple languages of

the collective, we decided to developed

a cover using crafts means as silk screen,

stencil and cardboard that we found on the

streets. So the CD is completely recycled!

CD’s made has different characteristics.

COLLECTIVE PHOTOGRAPH EXHIBITION

POSTERCARD

Again the collective Expurgação made a collective

exhibition from the photographers who are part of the

group, in a pizzeria called Don Camaleone. To disclose

the event we produce 1.100 postcards and 10 menus

from the photographs that were for sale at the exhibition.

Some of the postcards and the menus were handcraft

made, because of a short-run. In the menu (28x14 cm)

we have printed out and then threw some wine that

gave a peculiar aspect to each one. After the wine was

dry, we applied a thin matte lamination.

Because of a short-time to disclose the exhibition we made some hand-craft postcards 10x15 cm size using stencil, spray, painting and other mixing media on the back of the postal.Then we cut them all, so the back of each one had an exclusively artistic face as we see on the images above..

TIME-LAPSE EXPERIMENTS

VIDEO

At the end of 2008 I started to be more in

contact with the interactions between video

and photography. It was when I met the

timelapse technique that consist in taking

hundreds of shots in a pre-established

interval between them, then setting these

photographs into an animated video that

gives the impression of aceleration of time.

With this technique we can see movements

that our perception didn’t allow us to see it

as the rotation movement of the Earth. These

experiments resulted in two videos called Time

Leske I and Time Leske II. Both of them are

available on internet at my profile on vimeo:

domain of this technique, I was invited to give

three workshops about it.

COBRA DÁGUA VITÓRIA FASHION SHOW

VIDEO

Cobra D’água is a famous brand of surf wear

with more that 20 years in the fashion market.

They have a fashion show twice a year to

launch their new collection. In this winter,

when they launched the summer collection,

they wanted to innovate and hired us to make

a video that would be projected behind the

catwalk in a big screen of 3x2,30 meters size.

The problem was that the fashion show had

at least 12 minutes, and with the time that we

had it was impossible to render all in a unique

video with a lot of animated image . Otherwi-

se the video had to be synchronized with the

fashion show and the music chose by the DJ.

So we suggested the client to make short lo-

ops of animations and hire a VJ (video jockey)

to do a live projection of the videos.

We produced around 20 video loops of diffe-

rent animations using the stamps from the

collection. So the VJ could sync the anima-

tions with the DJ and the models. Everything

was made live! It was a great collective work,

with a lot of dynamism.A model with the big screen behind him with the animation produced by us.

In those three images above we can see a sequence of the animation as the model goes out the catwalk.
