Frederik van den Broek was born and raised in Limburg, The Netherlands. After finishing his studies at the Faculty of Industrial Design of the University of Technology Delft he started to work at various financial institutions such as Robeco and ING. He specialized as information designer for the financial world, aiming to make personal finance easier. In 2012 he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He underwent surgery, but unfortunately the tumor started to grow again in May 2015. He relocated from Barcelona, where he was living and working, back to the Netherlands. Here, he had to undergo a very complicated treatment, with many different pills and lots of tests and appointments in different hospitals.
