So we listened...and here is your newsletter.

When asked the question “How well do we look after the communal garden?” you gave us:

5.4/10Interestingly, it wasn’t issues about grass cutting and grounds maintenance that concerned you but:

• almost half of you raised dogs in the communal garden as an issue

• nearly half of you would like the garden zoned for different uses

• over a third of you would like more picnic benches/seating

• over a third of you don’t use the garden because of the dog mess

When asked “What score would you give for the appearance of Cwrt Tarrell?” you gave us:

4/10In addition:

• Nearly half of you said the scheme looked bland/boring/in need of brightening up

• Nearly half of you felt planting in front of the flats would help• Over a third of you felt that the scheme could do with

some paint or cladding (similar to Parc Tarrell) and want improvements to the bin area

• 4 of you are willing to get involved in looking after planters/gardening.

When we asked those with external stairs: “How would you rate a) the safety of the external stairs and b) the appearance of the external stairs?” you gave a score out of ten of:

• And all of you were concerned that the stairs are slippery1.25

When asked “How concerned are you about rats in the bin store and in the garden area?”

The majority of you had not seen any rats.

Those residents that had seen rats in the communal garden felt that they were being drawn in by people feeding the birds.

Being so close the river rates are potentially a problem. You can help by reducing their main food sources:

• recycle your food waste properly in the appropriate containers• report fly tipping/dumped black bags on the floor in the bin area• stop feeding the birds.

To better your score regarding the appearance of Cwrt Tarrell we will be speaking with you about how we can improve the appearance of where you live, working on what you are telling us.

3.5

Having heard your concerns, we have recently laid rat bait in the area again. Now help us by doing your bit.

When asked the question “Are there any other issues you would like us to look at?”:

• Over a third of you wanted outside storage for prams and bicycles• Over a third of you suggested installing CCTV and extra lighting at

Cwrt Tarrell• Three fifths of you are willing to help organise a 50th anniversary

celebration party.

For information on organising a party look at our website - www.wwha.co.uk or speak to us on the 11th of May. We’ll be following up on these suggestions to see if they are things we can introduce.

We want to work with and support our residents in making Cwrt Tarell a better place for you all to live. We can only do so much, we need your help. We are ready and waiting to work with you.
