Appendix 1 – Detailed breakdown of client work experience


Client Description of work performed

Truworths International Ltd – 2012 tocurrent

I have been involved with the Truworths audit since 2012. I was the Auditor inCharge on the Truworths engagement. In 2015, I joined the management groupand lead a team of 12 trainees. I have had exposure in various aspects of the audit,such as the planning stage, audit of Truworths’ Share Based Payments as well astheir debtors’ provision which utilised outputs from the Markov model. I was alsoinvolved in the AFS review as well as the review of their Integrated Report.

During my articles I received a performance rating of “exceeds expectations” andfor my AFS work I received a rating of “far exceeds expectations” which was thehighest rating a trainee could obtain.

As a manager, my responsibilities included time and people management, ensuringall deliverables were on time, as well as counselling trainees who wereunderperforming.

Engen Petroleum Limited – 2012 to current I was the Auditor in Charge on Engen’s refinery division. In 2015, I joined themanagement group and lead the Refinery team. My responsibilities while I was stilla trainee included drawing up the team budget and managing staff resources. I alsoreviewed the appropriateness of the risks and applicable controls pertaining to thedivision. I audited various sections including inventory, HSE provision, tax anddeferred tax. I received a rating of “far exceeds expectations” for this audit.

Acacia Real Estate Group - 2015 I worked on Acacia while I was on secondment in Phoenix, USA. Acacia is adeveloper and manager of commercial real estate assets. I was responsible forauditing their real estate funds.

Scottsdale Healthcare - 2015 I worked on Scottsdale Healthcare while I was on secondment in Phoenix, USA. Ihad a dual role of performing primary substantive work as well as reviewing them.The client was a private hospital. I worked on the PLGL provision, revenueanalytics, third party settlements and payroll. I reviewed investments, PPE,

expenses, cash and bank, and payables.

Old Mutual Wealth - 2014 This was an advisory project. In phase one, I had to formulate a risks and controlsmatrix and conduct a gap analysis on the client’s current and future policy adminsystems.

Phase two of the project consisted of a current state analysis of the Old MutualWealth division. I received a rating of “far exceeds expectations” for this work.

General Comments: I am a result-driven, goal-oriented individual. I am not afraid of taking on newchallenges and broadening my horizon. I have a good work ethic and I manage mytime well. My greatest attribute is my efficiency as I’m able to focus on the task toget the job done. I have an amicable personality and generally get on well withclients and colleagues alike.

Note: I was also involved on a few small client engagements which are not detailed here but I’m happy to discuss them.
