Glia Algunas funciones de la Neuroglia:
- Estructura de soporte del encéfalo (dan la resistencia).
- Separan y aíslan grupos neuronales entre si.
- Tamponan y mantienen la concentración de potasio en el líquido extracelular.
- Retiran Neurotrasmisores liberados en sinapsis.
- Guían a las neuronas durante el desarrollo del cerebro.
- Forman parte de la Barrera hematoencefálica, la cual está formada por ellas y el endotelio de los capilares encefáicos, y constituye una barrera que selecciona el paso de sustancias entre el SN y la sangre.
- Algunas participan en la nutrición de la neurona.
- Participan en procesos de reparación del Sistema Nervioso.
