RESEARCH INSTRUMENT DEVELOPMENT

Incivility in Nursing Education-Revised (INE-R) Survey: Available Fall-Winter 2014.

Incivility in Nursing Education (INE) Survey The INE Survey was developed in 2004 and revised in 2006, 2009, and 2010. It is a mixed method instrument that provides a stable structure of items reliably answered by survey participants. Students and faculty complete the same survey to measure both groups’ perceptions of faculty and student incivility. The INE has been used in several empirical studies and has been translated into Hebrew, Farsi, Filipino, Mandarin Chinese, Indonesian, Malay, Arabic, French, Ganda, and Spanish. International studies using the INE have been conducted in the following settings:

Emek Yezreel College, Emek Izrael, Israel Golestan University of Medical Sciences, Gorgan, Iran Holy Angel University, Angeles City, Philippines Hangzhou University College of Nursing, Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China Universitas Pelita School of Nursing, Harapan, Indonesia Open University Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Isra University, Amman, Jordan Universite Laval, Quebec, QC, Canada Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda Universidad del Rosario, Bogota, Ecuador Shoenbrun Academic School of Nursing, Tel Aviv, Israel King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia San Beda College, College of Nursing, Maynila, Philippines

Organizational Civility Scale (OCS) Clark and Landrum

The Organizational Civility Scale (OCS) measures the extent to which incivility is perceived to be a problem, identifies the factors that contribute to it, and generates solutions. The OCS measures the perceived level of civility, stress, and coping capacity among employees. It has been used in two medical centers, and other organizations and businesses have expressed interest in utilizing the OCS as an institutional assessment.

Faculty-to-Faculty Incivility Survey (F-F I Survey) The F-F I Survey includes both quantitative and qualitative items and measures faculty perceptions of and frequency with faculty incivility and ways to address the problem.
