1. Introduction

Essential oils คอืสารธรรมชาตทิีพ่ชืสรา้งขึน้มา ซึง่สะสมในสว่นตา่งๆของพชื เชน่ oil cells, glandular, trichomes, and oil or resin ducts.

Essential oils หมายถงึสารทีซ่บัซอ้น มกีลิน่ (สารหอม) ระเหยไดท้ี่สกดัมาจากสว่นของพชื ไดแ้ก ่เมล็ด (seeds) ใบ (leaves) ล าตน้ (stems) เปลอืก (bark ) และราก (roots) ของพชืสมนุไพร (herbs) พชืเป็นพุม่ (bushes) ไมย้นืตน้ขนาดเล็ก (shrubs) และไมย้นืตน้ (trees)

ทางเคม ีessential oils คอืสารทีป่ระกอบดว้ย mono- และ sesquiterpenes และ aromatic polypropanoids ซึง่ terpenes สงัเคราะหม์าจาก mevalonic acid pathway และ shikimic acid pathway สงัเคราะห ์aromatic polypropanoids.

A stimulating oil with a spicy, dry scent used to enliven (คกึคกั ร่าเริง) the circulation and encourage

good digestion.

sesquiterpenes 20-30%, oxygenated compounds

Cardamon (Elettaria cardamomum L.) กระวาน

Constituents: Terpinyl acetate, cineol, limonene, sabiene, linalool, linalyl acetate, pinene, zingiberene. White : cineol, pinene, terpineol, menthol, thymol Brown : safrol 80%, terpineol Yellow : safrol, sesquiterpenes, sesquiterpene alcohols

Antiseptic, diuretic (ขบัปัสสาวะ) emmenagogue (ยาขบัประจ าเดือน) and

dilatant (ขยาย) for blood vessels. For

digestive system, bronchitis and enteric (ล าไส้) convulsion (เกร็ง กระตุก).

Carrot Seed (Daucus carota L.)

Typical Constituents: α-pinene (~13%), β-pinene (~18%), carotol (~18%), ducol, limonene, β-bisabolene, β-elemene, cis-β-bergamotene, γ-decalactone, β-farnesene, geraniol, geranyl acetate (~10%), caryophyllene, caryophyllene oxide, methyl eugenol, nerolidol, eugenol, trans-asarone, vanillin, asorone, α-terpineol, terpinen-4-ol, γ-decanolactone, coumarin and β-selinene.
