Mobile Interference Hunting System

• Anritsu mobile interference hunting system is designed to automatically identify and locate sources of interference– Maps provided on tablet/laptop provide directions to locate

interference sources


Mobile Interference Hunting System• Basic configuration for the Anritsu interference hunting

system:– MX280007A InterferenceHunterTM Software– Anritsu handheld spectrum analyzer– Off-the-shelf omnidirectional magnet mount RF antenna with

GPS (or use separate GPS antenna)

– Windows Tablet (recommended) or PC with Windows 7 or 8 operating system running the MX280007A software

Mobile Interference Hunting System• Wide frequency range (9 kHz to 43 GHz possible)

– with appropriate Anritsu handheld spectrum analyzer and antenna

• Compatible with most existing Anritsu HH spectrum analyzers - (no firmware updates needed, GPS required)

• Mobile Interference Hunting System Startup– Connect Spectrum Analyzer to tablet with USB cable– Set analyzer RBW/VBW, Frequency, Channel BW, GPS ON, Preamp– Load Map into MX280007A, adjust settings as needed– Start the system and begin driving

Mobile Interference Hunting System Maps

• MX280007A works with both GoogleMapsTM and OpenStreetMapTM

– GoogleMaps requires an internet connection (a USB modem is typically used)• Care must be taken so modem frequencies do not

interfere with signals being hunted

– OpenStreetMap is downloaded to tablet/PC hard disk and imported into the interference hunting program

Both mapping systems are open source and free of charge !


Special Features & Capabilities• Interference within LTE uplink bands difficult to hunt

– Traffic information often masks presence of interference– Anritsu ‘Min Hold’ setting eliminates LTE traffics signals

from measurement consideration

Finding CATV Interference

CATV Leakage tends to occur at multiple locations in a

neighborhood.

Select ‘Multiple Emitter’ from ‘Mode’ tab.

Enter Threshold level.

Drive along various streets in the neighborhood.

Multiple locations will be identified on map indicating

positions of interference sources.

Select ‘Spectrum Clearing’ from ‘Mode’ tab.

Enter Threshold level.
