This project is chosen as a sample for this tutorial because it is only small room and less material to use so that it becomes relatively much easier to understand to be constructed by Civil Engineer. Some requirements are prepared to commence constructing this building which is given in the video list below: 1 st Tutorial : Short overview and Construction Stages (Structural Work) 2 nd Tutorial : Finish Stages (Architectural Work) 3 rd Tutorial : Step by Step Construction Schedule in Primavera P6 V16.2 4 th Tutorial : Step by Step Construction Design in STAAD.Pro V8i SS6 Construction stage in the first tutorial was recorded in short video uploaded into Youtube, which is accessible through this address https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eihemHVX3cU Any enquiries do not hesitate to email me at [email protected] 1 st Tutorial : Short overview and Construction Stages (Structural Work) 1. Project schedule As the first step to understand this construction work, prior to begin this work, all major work items has to be put inside giant schedule including planned duration as a basic requirement to provide labour, material, equipment and cost. We are operating Oracle Primavera P6 V16.2 as project schedule software to breakdown all necessary works to be followed by field civil engineer. Besides explaining Primavara P6 in this tutorial, we also compare it with MS Project 2016 to whom is familiar working in MS Project only. Some main tasks in doing this project consist of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) as a list below: 1. Foundation 2. Ground beam and slab 3. RC (Reinforced Concrete) and Steel column 4. CONSTRUCTION WORK TUTORIAL

Introduction

This tutorial is explaining about simplest way to build RC (Reinforced Concrete) building located in Doha, Qatar. This

project is chosen as a sample for this tutorial because it is only small room and less material to use so that it becomes

relatively  much  easier  to  understand  to  be  constructed  by  Civil  Engineer.  Some  requirements  are  prepared  to

commence constructing this building which is given in the video list below:

1st Tutorial : Short overview and Construction Stages (Structural Work)

2nd Tutorial : Finish Stages (Architectural Work)

3rd Tutorial : Step by Step Construction Schedule in Primavera P6 V16.2

4th Tutorial : Step by Step Construction Design in STAAD.Pro V8i SS6

Construction stage in the first tutorial was recorded in short video uploaded into Youtube, which is accessible through

1st Tutorial : Short overview and Construction Stages (Structural Work)

1. Project schedule

As the first step to understand this construction work, prior to begin this work, all major work items has to

be put inside giant schedule including planned duration as a basic requirement to provide labour, material,

equipment and cost.

We are operating Oracle Primavera P6 V16.2 as project schedule software to breakdown all necessary works

to be followed by field civil engineer. Besides explaining Primavara P6 in this tutorial, we also compare it with

MS Project 2016 to whom is familiar working in MS Project only.

Some main tasks in doing this project consist of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) as a list below:

1. Foundation

2. Ground beam and slab

3. RC (Reinforced Concrete) and Steel column

4. Masonry / Concrete block

5. Roof frame and sheet

6. Finishes (Architectural and MEP Work)

This simple building will be constructed following the schedule below:

3. Construction Stages

Physically, main construction stages of RC/Steel structure are following sequence figures below:

1. Soil Excavation for shallow foundation  2. Lean concrete and timber formwork for pad footing.

3. Spacer is required to receive proper concrete cover at bottom side

4. Reinforcement  bar  for  pad  footing  and  pedestal. Concrete  cover  shall  be  considered  following regulation.

5. Strengthened formwork by adding some timbers to prevent any damages while using vibrator.

6. Concrete pouring on the pad footing using Fc’35 MPa or C35/40

7. Formwork  dismantling;  in  case  any  crack  or honeycomb  on  the  concrete  surface,  it  shall  be either rectified by Sika/Fosroc grouting or concrete injection.

8. Timber formwork is provided as a casing of concrete pedestal

9. Each footing has pedestal and it is ready now to be backfilled by imported soil

10. After  backfilling  and  compaction,  each  footing  is connected  by  ground  beam.  Underneath  ground beam, we shall overlay compacted soil by polythene sheet and lean concrete.

11. Reinforcement  bar  and  timber  formwork  are installed along ground beam line.

12. Make  sure  that  all  formworks  have  been strengthened on both side (in the picture, formwork is strengthened one side only)

13. One day after  concrete pouring,  Formwork  can be dismantled; in case any crack or honeycomb on the concrete  surface,  it  shall  be  either  rectified  by Sika/Fosroc grouting or concrete injection. Within 3 days,  this  fresh  concrete  must  be  cured  by  clean water to maintain temperature and shrinkage effect

14. Next step is to pour the concrete for column. Prior to cast  it,  we  have  to  fabricate  timber  formwork properly  and  fix  it  with  additional  support  for strengthening in order to reduce any damage while using vibrator.

16. While  fixing  steel  column on  the ground beam and concrete column, we shall backfill and compact the floor  area  as  per  requirement.  Base  plate  and  bolt fixing is not visible in this picture. It will be discussed in the further topic.

17. Steel beam fixing and preparation for concrete floor can be done in the same time. After compaction, we have  to  apply  polythene  sheet,  lean  concrete  and spacer to receive concrete cover for reinforcement bar (Wiremesh)

18. Final step is to install reinforcement bar (wiremesh) for the concrete slab and concrete pouring as the last stage of this structural work. Curing by water on the RC slab within 3 days is a must to be done to achieve expected quality as per requirement.
