Reading I - Micah 5: 1-4a

Psalm 80 - Lord, Make Us Turn to YouRichard Rice

O shepherd of Israel, hearken, from your throne upon the cherubim, shine forth.Rouse your power, and come to save us.

Once again, O LORD of hosts, look down from heaven, and see;take care of this vine, and protect what your right hand has planted

the son of man whom you yourself made strong.

May your help be with the man of your right hand, with the son of man whom you yourself made strong.

Then we will no more withdraw from you;give us new life, and we will call upon your name.

Offertory Motet - The Record of JohnOrlando Gibbons (1583-1625)

(Cathedral Choir)

This is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalemto ask him, Who art thou? And he confessed and denied not, and said plainly,I am not the Christ. And they asked him, What art thou then? Art thou Elias?

And he said, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No.Then said they unto him, What art thou? that we may give an answer

unto them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself? And he said,I am the voice of him that crieth in the wilderness: Make straight the way of the Lord.
