Introduction

1 Introduction

1.1 About the BTS commissioningThis document describes how to commission WCDMA Base Stations (BTSs) using

Commissioning Wizard from the WCDMA BTS Site Manager software. For AXC com-

missioning, refer to the Commissioning and Integrating the AXC document. See also the

BTS-related RNC documentation.

This document provides instructions on how to proceed with manual commissioning

when there is no commissioning file available, for template commissioning and planned

commissioning with a commissioning file, and for reconfiguration commissioning. In

addition there are chapters describing testing of the BTS after commissioning.

Nokia Siemens Networks recommends that the user has the relevant knowledge of base

station systems and equipment. Pay careful attention to all warnings and cautions.

These instructions are based on the assumption that the user knows how to use basic

computer software. At least the following actions are needed: installing SW, uninstalling

SW and changing the IP address in the PC.

Screenshots included are representations and should be considered as examples only.

The current release of the WCDMA BTS Site Manager software may differ slightly fromthe shots depicted. Also, different BTS configurations and cabinet types reflect the unit

views in the Commissioning Wizard accordingly.

1.2 Introduction to WCDMA BTS commissioning

Generic commissioning tasks

Commissioning is a sequence of tasks, such as visual checks and inspections, param-eter and SW configurations, tests, and reporting, to ensure that the stand alone equip-

ment in question has been properly installed, has no faulty units and is ready for

integration.

The generic commissioning steps can be seen in the Commissioning overview diagram

below. The details of each step depend on the equipment and version in question and

can be found in the relevant user manual.

g When the RAML2.1 conversion (RAN885: Remote BTS SCF Management for

Flexi/Ultra/MetroSite BTS) is carried out by the WN6.0 SW, two WN5.0- and WN6.0-

specific commissioning files are stored into the BTS. WN6.0 SCF is converted auto-

matically when WN6.0 SW delivery is done and WN6.0 SW is activated (after BTS

reset).

 Automatic conversion is active until first recommissioning is done with WN6.0.

To get all the BTS capacity and features in use, required licences need to be down-

loaded to the BTS from the NetAct. For more information on licences, see the Licence

Management document and the New Features document in the BTS SW release doc-

umentation.

Visual checks and inspection

The first part of the visual check is done before powering on the BTS at the power

system. When all is proven to be OK, the 'Power on' check is done and the LED status

is verified. The equipment is checked visually to see that there are no fatal installation

errors, which might lead to equipment damage during the power on.

The following items are checked:

 • the grounding

 • power cabling and supply voltage

 • other cables and fibres

 • LED status during power up

 • TX/RX/antenna connector torque check

Local SW download

This step contains all the actions required to update and/or download SW to the equip-

ment or to the PC for managing the equipment at the site. The exact order in the step

sequence is equipment-specific and thus might take place after some self test.

Parameter setupThis contains all the actions required to set up the parameters for commissioning and

for integration. Parameters may include jumper settings and software parameters fed in

manually or as a file. Equipment specific user manual describes the details. Some of the

parameters need to be given during the test step.

Commissioning tests

This contains the key tests which need to be carried out to ensure the basic functionality

of the equipment in question. Some of the tests are activated automatically, some of

them are run as a part of the Commissioning Wizard and some may need to be activated

separately. Some of the tests are optional and are run for diagnostic purposes if there

is a reason to suspect the functionality. Typical test and measurements in the BTS com-

missioning:

 • internal loop tests

 • external alarm tests

 • site support system alarms shown at the BTS

 • RF max power measurement (optional test)

Some of the functional tests need more parameters than are available during the com-

missioning and thus can be run only after the BTS has been integrated and it is able to

get the rest of the parameters from the RNC.

Troubleshooting

The purpose of troubleshooting is to rectify the problems found by analysing the testresults and perhaps running some further tests to identify the cause of the problem. For

information about troubleshooting hints and optional tests, see Troubleshooting Ultra-

Site and MetroSite WDCMA Base Station document. To avoid double work, it is essen-

tial to be aware of the current known problems. The Technical Notes (TN), List of

Generic Faults and Change Deliveries (CD) need to be studied from time to time for

latest information about known problems and workaround solutions.

Based on the experience and HW repair statistics about the cause of the faults one

major group is 'no fault found'. To minimise unnecessary shipping, spare waiting and

'no fault found' reports, it is essential to double-check the suspected unit one more time

before sending it to repair.

Once the unit is suspected and the replacement seems to rectify the problem, the

original suspected unit needs to be tried once more. In many cases the actual reason

which rectified the problem is power off/on reset or plug off/push in reset.

In a complex BTS system with several independent power supply units it may occur thatthe unit does not reset properly even when the power of the unit is switched off and on

again. There might be clock or bus signals still alive on the backplane 'feeding' some

voltage to the unit affecting the internal circuitry. In these cases the unit must be

removed and re-inserted totally to effect a reset.

Finally, when the plug-in unit is really suspected or proven faulty, the appropriate error

report attached with possible log or test report files is filled. The following information

needs to be clearly available in the report:

 • site and equipment identification

 • unit identification

 • based on which test the unit was suspected faulty

 • what other units were suspected

 • what parameters were used

 • what other tests failed

 • what was the error/fault message/alarm number 

 • what was the used SW version

 • responsible engineer (report filled by) and contact info

In case of unit replacement the site inventory need to be updated.

Bar code reading and site inventory

To be able to trace a given unit based on the serial number or the version number it is

important to collect and keep the information about the unit version and serial numbersup to date. The most advanced units and their SW versions support the electronic serial

and version number detection and recording. Some less advanced and passive units do

not necessarily have this feature and those units need to be scanned. Most of the units

installed on the BTS have a set of extra serial and version number labels which must be

attached to the BTS cabinet door or in the inventory form in the site folder during the

installation. During the bar code reading also these labels need to be scanned.

More information on the bar code reading is available in the Nokia NetAct documenta-

tion Using Bar Code Scanner  and Using Asset Manager  documents.

Reporting

The most important part of the commissioning is the reporting. Without relevant reports

the equipment can be considered not commissioned. The purpose of reporting is to keep

track of the latest status of the equipment and the work done. Some new equipment

supports features where the reports are automatically updated to the main database in

the NetAct system, some need a few manual steps, and some reports need to be

saved/printed manually. Typical reports are:

 • commissioning report produced by the Commissioning Wizard of WCDMA BTS Site

Manager 

 • site inventory report

 • delivery reclamation for missing items

 • failure report for each faulty unit

 • failure report for each new problem • site deficiency report for outstanding problems

ment.

Note the master WAM allocation rules: in RU10, the master WAM selection algorithmprefers the WAM with the least baseband capacity (WSP) installed. A non-commis-

sioned WAM can also be selected as the master WAM to balance the load between sub-

racks. After the upgrade from previous releases, the master WAM location may be

changed to a less loaded WAM according to the rules stated earlier. This will not trigger

automatic BTS restart, but is done during the next BTS restart.

Purpose

Follow these instructions to install BTS Site Manager software to your PC.

Before you start

You should be familiar with installing software to your PC and managing files in it.

To set up and install the BTS Site Manager, you need to have an Internet connection

available to download the BTS Site Manager installation file from Nokia Online Services

(NOLS). The installation file can also be delivered on a removable media (CD-ROM, for

example).

Check that your computer meets the system requirements listed in the following table.

 • If you want to establish a connection to the BTS locally, connect the PC to any of the

BTS WAM units using a 10baseT Ethernet cable with an RJ-45 connector or to the

 AXC LMP using a 10baseT crossed Ethernet cable with an RJ-45 connector.

 • If the PC is connected to the AXC LMP port (access both to WAM and AXC already),

specify your PC's network settings to match the following settings:

Remote connection is not supported.

If you want to establish a local connection, select the Local option from the IP

Address list.

If you want to establish a remote connection, define the IP address of the remote

BTS.

Enter the User Name and Password if necessary.

By default, the user authentication is not in use and you do not need to enter the user

name and password. If the user authentication is enabled, defining these parameters is

mandatory.Using web interface, local user account information can be reset to factory defaults

(Nemuadmin/nemuuser) via local connection. The AXC and MRS transport ele-

ment/module provides a service to recover the transport module. Recovery will delete

the configuration except:

 • Super user account credentials

 • NE account credentials (if existing)

 • BTS keypair (BTS certificate and BTS private key, if existing)

 • CA certificate (if existing)

 • Licence files (if existing, AXC only)

Recovery will reset the transport module. Recovery is possible only when locally con-nected.

operator forgets the super user account credentials, the unit must be sent back to

factory.

The progress of the operation is displayed in the Task Selection view.

When the connection to the BTS is established, the Task Selection view closes and the

WCDMA BTS Site Manager main window opens.

If you receive a message with the text "Cannot establish secure connection", click the

 Accept button to connect to the BTS.

g If the local connection cannot be established, try to connect to the BTS using the

 AXC IP address 192.168.255.129. The connection will be established in the SW

download mode, and after updating the SW the local connection can be established.

Purpose

In the Update SW to BTS dialog box you can update new software to the BTS. This pro-cedure does not download the application files existing in the BTS that have the same

If the BTS has a connection to Nokia NetAct™, the NetAct will manage the BTS SW (that

5.1 Starting manual commissioningPurpose

If no commissioning file is available, the BTS has to be commissioned manually.

The BTS is commissioned with the Commissioning Wizard in the BTS Site Manager.

The Wizard features Back, Next, Cancel and Help buttons for navigating. The Next

button confirms the entered parameters and brings up the following page in each com-

missioning line. The Back button reverses to the previous page in the Wizard. The

Cancel button cancels all the entered parameters and closes the Wizard. The Help

button brings up a context sensitive help topic for each Wizard page.

g At the moment, the Commissioning Wizard supports English alphabet only. Please

remember this when entering text in the parameter fields.

Before you start

If you have not started the BTS Site Manager yet, launch it as described in Launching

BTS Site Manager .

 All parameters needed to configure the BTS are determined at the network planning

stage. It is essential that the input values match the expected values in the network plan.

Do not select the values randomly.

This Wizard page is for defining the BTS site settings.

5.3 Defining local cell resources

Purpose

This Wizard page is for defining local cells, and Wideband Transmitter and Receiver(WTR) units to local cells. Local Cell Resource is a concept for defining all hardware that

a logical wideband cell (WCEL) requires in the base station.

Before you start

g Local Cell Ids are determined at the network planning stage. It is essential that the

value input matches the expected value in the radio network plan. You should not

select the values arbitrarily.

Steps

1 Select the local cell from the Local Cell Id list.

This Wizard page is for defining Radio Network Controller (RNC) settings for local cells.

5.7 Defining WCDMA carrier information

Purpose

This Wizard page is for defining WCDMA carrier frequencies. The allowed UARFCNvalues for frequency bands are displayed below the Carrier Candidates table.

The carrier candidates are used in testing purposes. When the BTS is in the test dedi-

cated state, the user can run different test models, BTS BER test and WCDMA BTS loop

test. The parameter uses the so-called UARFCN convention defined in the IUB specifi-

cation. The UARFCN values are operator specific and defined by the 3GPP. The param-

eter specifies the downlink frequency.

Steps

Enter the UARFCN (UTRAN Absolute Radio Frequency Channel Number) for each

local cell in the corresponding fields.See the figure below.

 At least one carrier must be defined for a frequency band. Up to four WCDMA carrier

frequencies can be allocated for an operator. The frequencies are calculated according

to the entered channel numbers and displayed in the Frequency MHz fields.

g Check that the actual frequency channels (number of carriers and carrier spacing)

to be used in the BTS configuration match the carrier spacing limitations of the

WPAs.

g When running test models with dual carrier WTRs, the local cell where TRX1 is

assigned should have lower WCDMA carrier frequency than the local cell where

TRX2 is assigned.

5.8 Defining local cell groups

Purpose

This Wizard page is for assigning Wideband Signal Processor (WSP) units and localcells to local cell groups. Each group must have at least one local cell and one installed

WSP.

This page is not shown if only one local cell is defined in the Local Cell Resources page

or if the BTS configuration has only one installed WSP.

g Using local cell groups is mandatory if the total number of TRXs in the local cells is

more than 6. Otherwise using the groups is optional.

Summary

The following summarizes the rules for defining the local cell groups. For more informa-

tion, see Appendix: Defining Local Cell Groups .

1. To enable a softer handover, local cells that are supposed to use the same fre-

quency should be included in the same Local Cell Group (LCG).

2. When one WPA is shared by two local cells (TRXs), the cells connected to the same

WPA must be allocated to the same LCG. The 6-sector configuration and Multi-

Operator RAN (MO-RAN) with dedicated BB resources are exceptions which are

described in rule number 3.

3. If the shared WPA cells (TRXs) cannot be allocated under the same LCG, each LCG

must have at least one WSP from each subrack. This is the case with 6-sector con-

figurations (for example, 6x2) or in the MO-RAN configuration with dedicated WSP

resources.

4. If two WAMs are installed per subrack in case of a shared WPA, WSP slots 4-6, 10-

12 and 16-18 must have both LCGs assigned.

5. WTR TRX division: LCRs of one LCG can be divided between WTR pairs:

• LCG having six LCRs: 0, 2 or 4 LCRs per WTR pair.

• LCG having 1 - 5 LCRs: 0 - 4 LCRs per WTR pair; three LCRs can be configured

when another LCG does not have an LCR in the same WTR pair.

EUBB baseband capacity can be assigned to local cell groups if BB pooling is taken in

use and if the HW configuration contains EUBB WSP units. The sum of EUBB baseband

capacity for LCG must be always equal to 100%.

LCG which contain MIMO shall get EUBB capacity. One LCG can take whole 100%

EUBB capacity if the other LCG contains at least one installed Ultra WSP unit and

contains only non-MIMO cells.

8 Define Mapping HSPA local cells to baseband HW and Pararell Interference Can-

cellation (PIC).

HSPA local cells can be mapped to baseband HW resources (EUBB subrack andWSPC units).

When HSPA mapping to local cells is taken into use, it has to be performed for all fre-

quency layers (WCDMA carrier candidates) belonging to the same local cell group.

 All local cells with the same carrier candidate value (UARFCN) should be mapped to the

same baseband HW.

Paralell Interference Cancellation (PIC) pooling is supported if the HW configuration

contains rel2 EUBB units. PIC can be used with max. 2 LCG, if the configuration

contains 2 rel2 EUBB subracks, and max. 1 LCG in case od 1 EUBB subrack.

If we consider the Happy Bit Ratio to be an indication on how well the BTS is able to

serve UEs, that is to make them happy, then the UE transmission power limitations

would interfere with the calculation. UPHThreshold parameter is used to filter the power

limitation situations from the Happy Bit Ratio calculation. BTS discards the Happy Bits,

that are reported to it, when the reported UPH value is below the confiugred threshold.

If no UPH filtering is needed, then this parameter value should be set to 0.

Purpose

In the Commissioning - HSPA Quality of Service Settings page you can configurethe settings for HSPA Quality of Service.

Enter the scheduling weight value in the HSPA Scheduling Weight (0...100)

column.

Define a weight value for each Scheduling Priority Indicator (SPI) value after defining in

the RNC setup how the different traffic classes (Background, Interactive, Streaming) are

mapped to different SPI values and which SPI values are configured with Nominal Bit

Rates (NBR). The weights in the BTS must be configured according to that mapping.

• SPI values which are mapped for Streaming traffic class have a weight of 0.

•  All remaining SPI values, also those with non-zero Nominal Bit Rate, have a non-

zero weight.

The scheduler serves first the traffic with GBR requirements in SPI order. If there is

excess capacity after the GBR requirements are fullfilled, as many as possible NBR

requirements are fulfilled in SPI order. All remaining capacity after that is divided accord-

ing to scheduling weights. If there is no GBR or NBR traffic, all capacity is divided

according to the weights between the priority classes.

2 Select the HSDPA Congestion Control Policy from the drop-down list.

5.13 Defining external fault settings

Purpose

This Wizard page is for configuring external alarm settings. There are 24 external faultsettings.

g If you are commissioning the Triple-mode BTS, jump to Saving BTS parameters,

since no faults are defined in the WCDMA section of the Triple-mode BTS.

If the Intelligent Shutdown is selected to be used in the Local cell settings page, the

Mains Alarm column is displayed in the table. Depending on the BBU type selection, 1

- 6 external alarm lines are reserved for the mains alarms.

g For the mains alarms, you can only change the polarity and the other settings are

set to the default values.

5.16 Defining BTS site testing

Purpose

This Wizard page is for running WCDMA loop and EAC functionality tests on the com-missioned BTS.

The first test option is WCDMA Loop Test. The purpose of the test is to verify the working

condition of the installed and commissioned units in the BTS. Regarding the BTS com-

missioning it is recommended to run the WCDMA loop test. You can run the WCDMA

loop test when the operational state of the BTS is "On Air".

The second test option is EAC Functionality Test for testing the externa faults and con-

trols. You can test the EAC functionality if EAC lines are commissioned, a WEA unit

exists in the BTS, and the cabinet type is not the Triple-mode BTS.

• Define the units to be tested by selecting the appropriate check boxes, individually,

or by selecting the Select All check box.

• Select the Optimised Variation In Use check box if you want that only the required

minimum number of loop combinations will conduct the test. This speeds up the

testing.

• Select Single Loop Duration: 1 second, 3 seconds or 10 seconds.

Click the Start button to execute the testing for the selected units. The progress bar

shows the progress of the ongoing tests.

g During the test the BTS transmits at nearly full power. Make sure that there is an

antenna connected to the antenna connector.

If for some reason you want to stop the test before it is finished, click the Stop button.

 After the test is completed or stopped successfully you can view the test results in the

Test Summary and Failure Details tabs.

The Test Summary tab displays the results of the completed loop tests.

Commissioning Wizard - BTS Testing page.

Expected outcome

The results in the report are comprised in a way that the fully successful loops are at the

bottom of the page and the loops that are not, are on the top of the page. However,

“Resources Not Reserved” (reported when the BTS is connected to the RNC and the

BTS WSP resources are allocated for common channels) does not indicate a failed

result, rather that they are reserved in other use than this test. More information on the

test results is available in the Troubleshooting UltraSite WCDMA Base Station 

document and in the WCDMA BTS Site Manager Online Help.

Unexpected outcome

If parts of the test are not ok, run the test again with the failed units. If the results do not

change, replace the units in question:

 • if the test loops from WSP to WTR within the same sub-rack are ok, but not ok to

another sub-rack, the most probable fault is with WSM cabling

 • if the equipment has been cabled correctly, the fault is with the cable itself or with

the WSM card

 • if the test fails through one WTR, but not through other WTRs, replace the WTR

 • if the test fails though one WSP, but not through other WSPs, replace the WSP

 • if the test fails through one WAM subrack, but not through other WAM subracks,

replace the WAM

If replacing the units does not rectify the situation, the fault is in cabling or the cabinet.

2 Click the Test button for the EAC fuctionality test.

The Commissioning Wizard - EAC Functionality Test dialog box opens. See the fol-

lowing figure.

In the Alarms tab you can test EAC input lines by selecting the check box in the

Selected To Test column. The Test Status is changed to 'Faulty'. Change the state of

the supervised external device. After the state change notification is received from the

BTS, the new state is displayed in the State column and the Test Status is changed to

'OK'.

In the Controls tab you can test the EAC output lines. Change the state of the output

line in the State column. After the BTS has changed the state of the external control line,

check the state of the supervised external device, and change the Test Status.

The test results are saved in the Commissioning Report.

The Start Delay column shows the start delay before an alarm is generated. The

Cancel Delay column shows the cancellation delay before an alarm is cancelled. These

values are set in the commissioning phase. For more information, see Defining external

fault settings.

Click Close to close the Commissioning Wizard - EAC Functionality Test dialog box

and return to the Commissioning Wizard - BTS Testing page.

Purpose

This Wizard page is for saving the commissioning report in a file on the PC. Refer to thefigure below. The report contains the parameters supplied in the Commissioning

Wizard.

The report is an ASCII text file that you can open and check with any text editor.

You can check the BTS status from the Events view or the status bar of the WCDMA

BTS Site Manager. The Events view informs when the BTS commissioning is com-

pleted. If the commissioning was successful, the status bar should also display “Com-missioned” when exiting the Wizard. Refer to the figure below.

 After the successful commissioning, there should be no Commissioning parameter

mismatch alarms shown in the Alarms view.

For AXC commissioning, refer to the Commissioning and Integrating the AXC  docu-

If the commissioning is unsuccessful, refer to Performing reconfiguration commission-

ing.

Further information

Typically the network configuration is stored on individual unit serial number level to

enable fast and efficient search in the network, in case such information is needed. One

of the entry points for this data is after commissioning.

Depending on the requirements of the IM system where this information is stored, there

might be several options to collect the data. The most typical is to scan the units with a

bar code reader. Nokia Siemens Networks recommends a certain bar code reader HW

and SW to enable more automated transfer of data to Nokia NetAct™. More information

is available in the Nokia NetAct documentation Using Bar Code Scanner  and Using

 Asset Manager  documents.

6 Performing template commissioning

Purpose

Template commissioning provides an option to commission a BTS using a predefinedtemplate file. Since the same BTS configurations are commonly used in several BTSs,

the user can store a commissioning file of a BTS and use it as a template file when com-

missioning similar BTS sites. This will significantly reduce the number of parameters that

need to be configured - the BTS name needs to be changed, for example.

 All parameters needed to configure the BTS are determined at the network planning

stage. It is essential that the input values match the expected values in the network plan.

Do not select the values randomly. For more information on commissioning parameters,

see the Changes in WBTS Commissioning Parameters document.

Steps

1 Launch WCDMA BTS Site Manager and choose the Configuration →  Commission-

ing menu item.

The commissioning file can be made with the Plan Editor tool in NetAct Radio Access

Configurator. The file is downloaded to the PC by means of the NetAct Radio Access

 • The BTS has such a problem that requires commissioning.

 • The site has been extended (for example, carriers are added to sectors, WAMs are

added, or HSPA BB resource utilisation is altered).

 • The environment has changed (for example, some TRXs are moved to other sites).

 • There is a need to extend the BTS chain, which requires changes in other BTS con-

figurations.

During the reconfiguration commissioning, the BTS remains operational up until the

mandatory site reset at the end of the commissioning.

9 Defining BTS output power test

Purpose

Running the BTS output power test after commissioning is optional.

Before you start

Before running any tests the BTS should be commissioned and an external measuring

equipment (a power meter or a spectrum analyzer) should be connected to the BTS.

The BTS should be reset to test state before running the BTS output power test.

1. Select the Enter BTS Test State... command on the Test menu.

You can follow the BTS reset status in the Enter BTS Test State dialog box.

g For integrated BTSs (I UB connected) the reset takes about 5 minutes. For stand-

alone BTSs the reset is faster.

2. Wait for the notification “The site is now ready for testing” and then click Close.

to be tested.

2 Select the BTS Test Models command on the Test menu to open the BTS TestModels dialog box.

Performing RealTilt commissioning

10 Performing RealTilt commissioning

Purpose

The Real Tilt Wizard in WCDMA BTS Site Manager is a tool for commissioning the RealTilt equipment. In the commissioning you can set the configuration parameters for the

Real Tilt Control Unit (RCU) and verify that the RCU works.

The Real Tilt Wizard features Back, Next and Cancel buttons for navigating. The Next 

button confirms the entered parameters and brings up the following page. The Back 

button reverses to the previous Wizard page. The Cancel button cancels all the entered

parameters and closes the Wizard.

Every Real Tilt Wizard page reflects the actual situation in the connected RCU. The

parameters entered in the Wizard pages are accepted only if they are within acceptable

limits.

Before you start

g This document assumes that you have allocated IP addresses to all your RAN

elements and arranged the IP routing according to the principles described in the

WCDMA RAN documentation. You must have a public IP address also for the

RealTilt Solution and you must arrange the routing according to the same principles.

g If using other than Kathrein's antennas, ensure that the antenna table file has been

downloaded.

g Ensure that you have the latest software version downloaded. For more information,

see Operation and Maintenance (O&M) tasks in the WCDMA Antenna System

Product Documentation set.

Steps

1 Choose the Antenna →  Real Tilt →  Connect menu item to connect to the RCU.

BTS commissioning troubleshooting

11 BTS commissioning troubleshootingIn case of a failure in any part of the whole commissioning procedure, an alarm will

appear in the Alarms view. For BTS fault descriptions, see the UltraSite and MetroSite

WCDMA Base Station Faults document and the WCDMA BTS Site Manager Online

Help.

You can check the cause of a failure from the commissioning reports. Check also the

LED states of units. After successful commissioning the LED state is stable green.

The commissioning procedure may fail, for example, when:

 • autodetect feature did not find all units in the BTS

 • there is no connection to the BTS - check that the BTS is powered up - the LED on

a power supply unit is a good indicator 

 • cabling is not connected correctly, especially if WSM front cables are chained incor-

rectly.

You can view all BTS information in the Site Information dialog box by choosing the

Tools →  Site Information menu item in WCDMA BTS Site Manager.

For more troubleshooting instructions, see the Troubleshooting UltraSite and MetroSite

WDCMA Base Station document.

WCDMA BTS Site Manager installation

To set up and install the BTS Site Manager, follow the instructions in the Installing

WCDMA BTS Site Manager .

To connect the PC to the BTS, follow the instructions in Launching WCDMA BTS Site

Manager .

If the connection to the BTS is lost for some unexpected reason, it may take a fewminutes before the reconnection is established.

13 Appendix: RF cabling and commissioning

with WOC

This chapter describes RF cabling and commissioning parameters required for theWCDMA BTS 2+2 and 2+2+2 CEC configurations including a Wideband Output

Combiner (WOC) unit.

It is important that all TX RF cable chains between the Wideband Transmitter and

Receiver (WTR) unit and WOC unit are equal in length as illustrated in the following

figure. If the length of these RF cables is different, the "LPA reflected power too high" or

"LPA linearization fault" alarm may occur.

13.1 Validity

13.2 Commissioning instructions

The following figures show the BTS parameter settings required for the 2+2 and 2+2+2

CEC configurations where a WOC unit is used to combine the output of two Wideband

Power Amplifier (WPA) units into a single Wideband Antenna Filter (WAF) unit. BTS

configurations incorporating a WOC unit are different for the Release 1 and Release 2

hardware. This example of the commissioning procedure illustrates the Release 1hardware in a 2+2+2 CEC BTS with six WPAs and WOC units in use. However, the

settings are generic and have to be used in any configuration where the WOC unit is

used to combine the output of two WPAs into a single WAF.
