1. Introduction

BGVT-721A is a versatile and economical platform for mobile positioning applications. It

integrates the SiRF start-III GPS chipset, Quad-band 850/900/1800/1900 GSM/GPRS

(SIEMENSE TC65) communication engine and computer processing power all onto a single

board.

It is enclosed in a solid casing for easy installation. BGVT-721A provides reliable Real-

Time vehicle GPS positions anytime anywhere in the world providing the correct position and

status of vehicles from remote locations onto computer displayed maps. Benefits such as

increased fleet efficiency, improved public and driver safety, better emergency response time,

enhanced fleet control, and good public relations are all realized through the proper

implementation of BGVT-721A system.

The BGVT-721A system takes advantage of JAVA machine to transmit NMEA message

to 24-hrs Control Center by Packet-Switch for monitoring through either GPRS or SMS

system. Control center set command by sending SMS for monitoring through GSM system

or internet access.

6. Mini USB Port Applications

GT-721A offers a Mini USB2.0 full speed (12M bit/s) device interface, which is available as

a command and data interface and for downloading Java firmware and functions setting.

The USB I/O-pins are capable of driving the signal at min 3.0V. They are 5V I/O compliant.

To properly connect the USB interface to the host USB 2.0, a compatible connector is

required. Furthermore, the USB modem driver delivered with GT-721A must be installed as

described below.

The USB host is responsible for supplying, across the GT-721A main power to USB

interface. This is because GT-721A is designed as a self-powered device.

6.1 Installing the USB modem driver

Connecting the USB cable to the GT-721A host and the PC then turn on the GT-721A

power, Windows detects GT-721A as a new USB modem, and it opens the “Found New

Hardware Wizard” and reports that it is searching for the “CP2102 USB to UART bridge

controller” driver. Follow the instructions on the screen and specify the path to “Microsoft

windows update”. Windows will copy the required software to your computer and Click

“Finish” to complete the installation.

7. Antenna Interface

7.1 GPRS/GSM Antenna Connector

BGVT-721A offer a connector (SMA type) must be connected with the external passive

antenna.

7.2 GPS Antenna Connector

BGVT-721A offer a connector (SMA type) must be connected with the external active

antenna. The connector including the reception of RF signal input and antenna power supply.
