Indonesia is a country in Southeast Asia which is crossed by the equator and is between the continents of Asia and Australia as well as between the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. Indonesia is the “island world” consisting of 13,466 islands, the alternative name commonly used is “the archipelago”. Indonesian land borders with Malaysia on Borneo Island, with Papua New Guinea on the island of Papua and East Timor on the island of Timor. Other neighboring countries include Singapore, Philippines, Australia, and the union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands in India.

With 160 employees located across 6 owned offices and 9 agencies in the country, CNC Indonesia is able to offer a long standing global coverage of the country’s main markets thanks to a mix of reliable direct services and dedicated feeder network calling Jakarta, Surabaya and Semarang, allowing connections to multiple out-ports. CNC offers to exporters a somewhat unique coverage of Manila South and Davao, along with best-in-class transit time to North China.

With the October 2014 election of President Joko Widodo, aka “Jokowi”, a new era with high economical hopes has opened for Indonesia. After some bold decisions such as the 20 years old fuel subsidy cut, the government has just unveiled the ambitious medium-term economic agenda, which includes plans to boost domestic production, stimulate growth and improve the fiscal balance to levels that Indonesia has not seen in decades. Among others the government set out ambitious goals such as spurring economic growth to 8%, up from the current 5%, and reducing the budget deficit to 1% of gross domestic product (GDP) by 2019. Within Jokowi’s five-year presidency, the government is planning several growth-generating infrastructure projects such as building 49 new dams, developing 24 seaports for the future maritime highways, establishing new power plants with a combined capacity of 35,000 megawatts, doubling railways and quadrupling highways. No doubt the momentum in the coming years will be in South East Asia largest economy!
