Each pond has its own color, from dark brown to cobalt blue. The colors change with the weather and time of day. MAP D-2 Tsuruga-jo Castle Aizuwakamatsu City Tsuruga-jo Castle’s history dates back to the 14th century, although it was mostly demolished in 1874, and reconstructed in 1965. In the springtime, around 1,000 cherry trees offer a magnificent display within the castle grounds. MAP C-3 No.1 Tadami River Bridge Tadami Town One of the railroad bridges over Tadami River, which is on the JR Tadami Line route. There is a viewing point close to Ozekaido Mishima-Juku, from where you can enjoy the scenery in each season. On clear days, the bridge is reflected in the river. MAP B-3 Ouchi-juku Shimogo Town Ouchij-juku, built around 1640, was used as a post town during the Edo period, on the important road between Aizuwakamatsu and Nikko. The thatched-roof buildings look especially beautiful during the Snow Festival held every February. MAP C-4 Hanamiyama Park Fukushima City This park is privately owned by a family who farm flowering trees, and was opened to visitors in 1959. In springtime, the entire park looks as if it has been dyed in pastel pink with a variety of blossoms and flowers. MAP E-2 Shirakawa Daruma Doll Market Shirakawa City This traditional market, with over 200 years of history, is held every February. During festival time, around 700 stalls are set up along the main street, stretching for 1.5 km. Visitors come to buy lucky charms such as daruma dolls. MAP D-5 Fruit Picking Fukushima City The northern part of Fukushima Prefecture is a major center of fruit production. A variety of fruits are harvested from early summer to winter, and many orchards welcome visitors to try out fruit-picking. MAP E-2 Bandai-Azuma Skyline Fukushima City This alpine scenic highway winds its way up and around the Azuma mountain range. The seasonal sceneries, such as snow walls in spring, lush greenery in summer and gorgeous foliage in autumn, attract visitors. MAP D-2 Spa Resort Hawaiians Iwaki City This is a resort and theme park which uses the hot spring water from Iwaki Yumoto. You can enjoy five kinds of spas and theme parks, such as the Water Park, and the largest open-air bath in the world. Polynesian Dance Shows are also performed daily. MAP G-5 Aquamarine Fukushima Iwaki City One of the main exhibits of this aquarium is a huge water tank reproducing the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture. It also provides some hands-on activities, such as fishing within the aquarium. MAP G-6 Shiramizu Amida-do Iwaki City This Amitabha Hall was constructed in 1160. The garden which surrounds the main hall is full of natural beauty regardless of the season, but is especially breathtaking in summer, when the lotus flowers are in bloom. MAP G-5 Ogawa-Suwa Shrine Iwaki City The weeping cherry tree in the shrine grounds is estimated to be over 500 years old.
