MANUSCRIPTS PREPARATIONSManuscripts must be in english, typewritten using MSword, arial narrow, single space, 3 cm of left and rightmargin, and 2.5 cm of top and bottom margin of letterpaper size. INTRODUCTIONForest degradation resulted the lack of wood supply for industry. Several scientific researches on the biomass utilization of fast growing species from estate forest and plantation for wood subtitute materials have been reported to be one of the solution to
solve this problem. Oil palm and rubber plantations were dominant commodity in North Sumatera. The plantation biomass was not optimally exploited. Integration of biomass utilization from estate forest and plantation was therefore expected to
reduce natural forest exploitation in order to maintain the sustainability. The communities consist of scientists, academicians, and experts concerning in forest and forest product science have been carrying out the International Sypmposium of Indonesian Wood Research Society (IWoRS) since 2009. This community is the proper place for sharing the knowledge to solve the forestry
and wood industry problem. In 2014, University of Sumatera Utara (USU) has been trusted to be the host in The 6th International Symoposium of IWoRS.
