C om pr ehens ive New Z ealand Vis a E li gi bi li t y E val ua t io n  ------------- ------------ ------------- ---------------- ------------- -------------------------------------------- -------------- -------- Dear Chris and Veronika, Thank you for visiting our stand at the Emigrate Show recently held Glasgow. Below we provide you with a C ompr ehens ive New Zealand Vis a E lig ibil it y E valuat ion . This evaluation is based on the information you have supplied us with and will assess Chris’ eligibility to emigrate to New Zealand under the Skilled Migrant Category, given that he has obtained an offer of employment as a Greenkeeper. Skilled Migrant Category The Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) is aimed at recruiting highly skilled migrants to New Zealand. The points based system is designed to prioritise those applicants who have skills in demand, have skilled employment or offers of skilled employment in New Zealand. A person who is interested in applying for residence under this category must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). Points are awarded for employability and capacity building factors, including skilled employment, work experience, qualifications and age. Once an applicant can claim 100 points and meets the prerequisites for Health, Character and English Language he/she may then lodge an EOI into Ski lled Migrant Pool. Please note that an applicant’s must be 55 years or younger in order to apply under thi s category. EOIs are ranked on the basis of their points score, the INZ fortnightly determines a selection point and selects EOIs that meet or exceed the selection point. These EOIs will be selected for further consideration and may then be subsequently invited to apply for residency. EOIs will remain in the pool for 6 months and will become eligible for selections within that 6 mont h period. If you have not been selected within that time then your EOI will be removed from the pool and you will be required to submit a further EOI should you wish to again become eligible for selection. Once an applicant is invited to apply for residency he/she is then required to submit documents to the INZ to evidence that he/she can claim the points claimed in the EOI. It is at this stage the INZ complete a second tier assessment to determine whether or not the applicant has the ability to settle well in New Zealand. Usually those with a job offer, and provided that they meet all the requirements under the SMC, should be granted residency. Those who do not have a job offer and are assessed as not being able to settle well in New Zealand will undergo further assessment and may be r equested to attend a face to face interview. Depending on the INZ Case Officer’s assessme nt, these applicants may be either:  Granted residency or;  Granted a 9 month work to residence work permit, or;  Have their residence application declined. If a 9 month work to residency permit is issued the appli cant could be approved fo r residence through the SMC if they hold a skill ed job in that 9 month period.

Comprehensive New Zealand Visa Eligibili ty Evaluat ion  -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Dear Chris and Veronika,

Thank you for visiting our stand at the Emigrate Show recently held Glasgow. Below we provide you

with a Comprehensive New Zealand Visa Elig ibil it y Evaluat ion . This evaluation is based on the

information you have supplied us with and will assess Chris’ eligibility to emigrate to New Zealand

under the Skilled Migrant Category, given that he has obtained an offer of employment as a

Greenkeeper.

Skilled Migrant Category

The Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) is aimed at recruiting highly skilled migrants to New

Zealand. The points based system is designed to prioritise those applicants who have skills indemand, have skilled employment or offers of skilled employment in New Zealand.

A person who is interested in applying for residence under this category must first submit an

Expression of Interest (EOI). Points are awarded for employability and capacity building

factors, including skilled employment, work experience, qualifications and age. Once an

applicant can claim 100 points and meets the prerequisites for Health, Character and English

Language he/she may then lodge an EOI into Skilled Migrant Pool. Please note that an applicant’s

must be 55 years or younger in order to apply under this category.

EOIs are ranked on the basis of their points score, the INZ fortnightly determines a selection

point and selects EOIs that meet or exceed the selection point. These EOIs will be selected for

further consideration and may then be subsequently invited to apply for residency. EOIs will remainin the pool for 6 months and will become eligible for selections within that 6 month period. If you

have not been selected within that time then your EOI will be removed from the pool and you will be

required to submit a further EOI should you wish to again become eligible for selection.

Once an applicant is invited to apply for residency he/she is then required to submit

documents to the INZ to evidence that he/she can claim the points claimed in the EOI. It is at

this stage the INZ complete a second tier assessment to determine whether or not the

applicant has the ability to settle well in New Zealand. Usually those with a job offer, and

provided that they meet all the requirements under the SMC, should be granted residency.

Those who do not have a job offer and are assessed as not being able to settle well in New

Zealand will undergo further assessment and may be requested to attend a face to faceinterview. Depending on the INZ Case Officer’s assessment, these applicants may be either:

  Granted residency or;

  Granted a 9 month work to residence work permit, or;

  Have their residence application declined.

If a 9 month work to residency permit is issued the applicant could be approved for residence

through the SMC if they hold a skilled job in that 9 month period.

INZ Select ion Cri teria – 11 March 2010(http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/general/generalinformation/news/eoiselection.htm)

Below I outline the most recent INZ selection criteria that took place on the 11 March 2010. The

recent selection criteria is, in descending order:

  EOIs that score a total of 140 or more points;

EOIs that had a points total of 100 or more and included points for an offer of skilled

employment; and,

EOIs that had a point’s total of 115-135 and included 15 points for work experience (6+

years) in an area of absolute skills shortage.

Eligibility

Given the above, with a 115 with an offer of skilled employment, we have assessed Chris as meeting

the recent selection recent selection criteria.

Relationship

In order for Veronika to be included in your application, you must show that you have been in a

genuine and stable relationship and that you have been living together for at least 12 months. You

have advised that it may be difficult to provide evidence of co-habitation until September 2010 and

therefore we would assist you with advice on what documents you are required to lodge with INZ to

meet this important requirement.

Expression of Interest

In our experience many applicants do not understand the complexities of the Skilled Migrant

Category and lodge an incorrect EOI. The EOI is the building foundations of any application under the

Skilled Migrant Category and therefore it is critical that the EOI is completed correctly and

accurately. We will provide you with the advice and assistance required to lodge an accurate EOI

that has a chance of being selected from the pool.

Invitat ion to Apply for Residency

Once your EOI is selected from the pool, you will receive an Invitation to Apply for Residency in

which you have four months to submit an application to Immigration New Zealand. To ensure

approval, it is critical that you lodge an application that provides evidence of the points you haveclaimed in your EOI.

Processing Times

As you have obtained an offer of skilled employment the INZ will process your application within 1-3

months. Following the approval of your application, you have 12 months to enter New Zealand to

validate your residency visa.

The final decision however, is at the discretion of the INZ and it is the INZ who determine the

likelihood of success. The INZ has now made selections fortnightly from 1 February 2006. Those

obtaining an offer of skilled employment or have qualifications and work experience in an

occupation listed on the Long Term Skills Shortages List, in most instances, are successfully invited toapply for residency under the SMC and proceed to successfully obtain New Zealand residency.

We firmly advise you to take absolutely no step in reliance of emigration until the visa’s areendorsed in your passports. If you do so, you take a risk with serious consequences.
