Michael Shanoudi
Senior | Marketing
“I think it’s a good thing,
because changing it
would diminish everything
we’ve been striving for: to
remain one of Northeast
Ohio’s competitive public
universities, as The
University of Akron.”
Shianne Cunningham
Freshman | Music
Education
“I feel a lot better
now after reading Dr.
Scarborough’s letter in my
Zip Mail. I intended to go
to The University of Akron
and if it changed, I would
feel as if it’s a different school.”
Andrew
Vandierendonck
Grad Student | Sports
Administration
“I love the idea. I think the
university has developed
this name over time and if
changed, it would ruin its
reputation.”
Treyvon Hoover
Freshman | Sports
Management
“The University of Akron
sounds more authentic,
because it is.”
Darijha McCollum
Freshman | Pre-Med
“I am ecstatic because
I feel like changing the
name within the next
four years would change
my demeanor from what
it originally was when I
started this past August.”
Tone Turner
Freshman | Social
Work
“I like the idea of there
being no plans to change
the name because I
applied to attend a four-
year university that is
all encompassing to all
majors, not a technical
school.”

I’m glad Chick-Fil-A and Panda Express are replacing Ohio Burger.
Steak ‘n Shake is an improvement over The Creamery.
Einstein Bros. was a better fit for Bierce.
I’d rather have Ohio Burger back.
I can’t wait for Starbucks to open in Bierce Library next year.
I’ll miss The Creamery.Total Voters: 78 as of 8:13pm, Sept 16

What do you think about the new lineup
of chain restaurants coming to campus?
