With regard to a city that I want to live in, I’d like to mention the Dubai, which has become a destination only appear in the imaginings of the science fiction writers. Actually, since my teenage, I have been dreaming of living there, my geography teacher told me that the Dubai is the wealthiest city in the Middle East and I really hope to live in it after I retire.And moving onto why I want to live in this city, it’s basically because I have great interest in its bold and daring buildings, like Burj Kalifa, which rises over half a mile into sky is the breathtaking centerpiece, it’s three times the height of the Eifel Tower and twice the size of the empire State Building. I can also take the lift to the observation deck, the city seems to grow before the eyes, at night, the tower would be particularly beautiful, especially when viewed through Dubai Fountain’s dancing water. Apart from that, I’m also into its local culture and tradition. The some mosques are also open to the non-Muslim visitors. I really love the white color and unique design of them. If I live there, I can have a better understanding of its religion. I have to admit that I am totally attracted by its gorgeous view and

distinctive culture, in my view, no other cities can compare with it.

Recently I moved to a new apartment and started to live on my own. On the day I moved in, I suddenly needed a few tools to assemble my furniture. So I knocked on my neighbor’s door. My neighbor was a middle-aged lady. She was very sweet and kindly gave me the tools.

On the next day, the lady named Ms. Li knocked on my door. She came to introduce herself and brought me a bag of fruits to welcome me on the block. She also offered to help with the move. I was so surprised and touched . I mean, I watch those TV shows where everyone knows people living around them. I really want to have sun an environment where neighbors look after each other and enjoy socializing. But that’s not so common nowadays. I didn’t expect to have such a warm-hearted neighbor.

I invited her to come over for dinner after I settled down. She gladly agreed but insisted on bring food. She told me that she really likes to cook. She brought a lot of home-made food to my place. And as expected, it was tasty. I met with her and her lovely family that

night. Ms.Li shared her family life and her cooking skills with me. She also gave me many tips regarding the local area, including good restaurants, stores that open late and whatever else she could think of. She really made a great effort to make me feel welcome on the block.

I understand that most people nowadays have demanding jobs and other responsibilities, so they don’t have time to socialize with their neighbors. I feel really lucky to have Ms Li, who is so warm and inviting to be my neighbor. Because of her, the whole neighborhood seems to be warm. An extra benefit is that now I know I have some to ask for help.

The most successful sportsman that rushes into my mind must be Li Ning, who is not only a world-renowned athlete in the 1980s but also a great businessman after retirement. Li Ning is currently in his late 50s but he still looks quite young and energetic. Unlike other retired athlete, he didn’t choose to be a coach. Instead, he went to Peking University for further study, which laid a good foundation for his future success as a businessman. His name is widely acknowledged and he was affectionately called the prince of gymnastics because his career is

just like a legendary.

He started practicing gymnastics since he was only six and after years of hard work, he was successfully enrolled by the national team. He is such a persistent person who never gives up anything. Even he once broke his arm badly during the training he didn’t give up at all. After 3 months of recovery and rehabilitation training, he finally got back to the court again and got the first place in the match. It was his strong will and perseverance that attracted millions of people’s respect.

Due to his great success and the considerable contribution to Chinese sports industry, he was honored chosen as the last torchbearer to light up the torch on the opening ceremony of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. I suppose this is the highest accolade the an athlete may be awarded.

The period of history I think interesting is the time of 3 kingdoms. As I can remember, it starts from 220 and ends from 280. There’re a number of great person in history, like Liu bei，Zhu ge liang， Cao cao and so forth. Among them, Zhu ge liang is the smartest

and the most visionary person. He helped Liu bei build his country and left us hundreds of brilliant poems. It sounds amazing. Some of them showed up in our textbooks that we had to recite it. There’s an amusing story that the son of Liu bei，A Dou was a silly guy and he was fatuous. No matter how Zhu ge liang assisted him, he couldn’t understand and figure it out. So now if we describe someone who’s stupid, we might say he’s like A Dou. Anyway, It has a great influence on the Chinese history and they give a lot of useful suggestions in national events.
