1978 년 이전에 생산된 페인트의 경우에는 납성문을 포함하고 있고 이는 인체에 여러 가지 문제를 야기하는 물질이다 1950 년 이전의 경우에는 페인트에 납성분이 50 정도가 함유된 납페인트도 제조되었다 페인트 용매 ( 솔벤트 ) 는 인체에게 심장 질환을 야기할 수 있다 특히 콘텍트 렌즈를 착용한 사람에게 메탄올이나 다른 화학물질의 작용으로 심장에 무리를 주게 되어 주의를 요한다 더욱이 콘택트 렌즈를 착용한 사람에게는 화학물질이 렌즈에 흡착되어 눈의 자극을 유발 하거나 시력 저하의 원인이 될 수 있다
