Definition

Bio (nature) mimic (to imitate)

Biomimicry is an innovation method that seeks suitable solutions by emulating nature's time-tested patterns and strategies in order to solve human problems. E.g: A solar cell is inspired by a leaf.

It is also referred to as biomimetics, bio-inspiration, biomorphic, e.t.c.

Advantages Of Biomimicry

To create products, processes and policies.

To create new ways of living.

To create suitable products with great performance.

To save energy and cut material costs (Economical).

To redefine and eliminate waste.

To solve human problems.

Employment.

Man-made System Biological System

Future Innovations:

Sources(nature) Innovations

Ant colony network Repair system.

Chimpanzees Medicinal research.

Sharks Antibiotics, cure to cancer!!!

Wood pecker Force opposer in helmets, for boxers.

Bat Ultra-cane (walking cane).

Fish sensitivity. Fish robots to search for pollution in water.

Bees Bee-robots to exploit other planets

Spider silk Elastic and tensile materials.

Promotion of biomimicry

Communicating biomimicry knowledge.

Making researches and studies.

Encouraging others.

biomim7.jpgFinal Words

If we are willing to make progress, we cannot rely on the small scale improvements, we need to re-think challenges from the First principle and using biomimicry to achieve them.

The more our world function like the natural world, the more likely we are to endure on this home that is ours, but not ours alone.
