BEGGARS IN INDIAOrganized begging is a form of human trafficking that is highly practiced in India. Around 60,000 children go missing in India each year, however, there are probably way more that are not accounted for. The children are forced to work for beggar mafia's, which are organized criminal groups. The mafia usually only takes children that are ten years of age or younger. It is recommended that tourists, as well as natives, do not give the beggars any type of money. By giving them money, the mafia keeps making more and more money, which means they will be kidnapping more kids.

CHILD BEGGARSThe beggars mafia kidnaps infants and young children and force them to work as beggars on the street. The kidnappers come off as kind people who are just trying to help, however, they end up drugging the children and forcing them to be beggars. The mafia kidnaps newborns from the hospitals, infants, homeless children, and any child that may seem vulnerable. The mafia will also rent a baby, drug him or her, and send them out on the street with the women in order to cause sympathy. The children are brutally beaten, starved, burned, and some even have limbs amputated or eyes pulled out. The worse the children look, the more money they bring into the mafia. The mafia also keeps the children addicted to opium or other drugs in order to control them.

CHILD BEGGARSThe children are not allowed to keep the money they earn, all of it goes to the mafia leader. If they do not make the target amount, the child is brutally beaten and abused. The mafia teaches these children how to effectively beg for money. They teach them where to beg, who to beg, and how to get sympathy from other people. These children eventually become addicted to the street life considering that is all they know. A lot of these children will stay in the streets even when offered help to get out of it. There are no limits when it comes to the beggar mafia in India.

HOW TO DEAL WITH BEGGARS (PERSONAL LEVEL)These children could literally break somebody's heart just by the way they look, however, it is important that you do not give them money. Instead, you could offer them food or drink, even though they usually turn it down. It may seem kind of cruel, however, the best thing to do is ignore the beggars, even if they are children. If you feel like you have to give them money, be sure to give them a very small amount. It is also important that you do not give money to women beggars with newborn babies. These babies are rented and drugged in order to make them drowsy.
