People often ask me if Im scared to ask Noran about certain things, likewearing the veil. Im not. To me, asking questions is the first step towardsunderstanding. If we stand back and only wonder, too afraid to ask, then we start torun into problems like ignorance and racism.
The truth is I envy Noran. Her faith is strong. Perhaps t h i s is part of thereason for the conflict in the world today - we are too envious of each other andforget that it is okay to admire one another for our differences.
Noran and I are different. Sure, we have conflicting views, but we never saythat the other is wrong. I have learnt more from Noran than I could ever hope tolearn from a textbook.
I dream of one day appearing on Norans doorstep in Cairo and giving her ahug for the first time. I also dream of showing her the sights of Australia. But mostof all I dream for people to experience what I have experienced - to learn that it isokay to be different, to not be afraid of one another, and to understand.

32 Read the poem Theres Been a Death in the Opposite House below and answer thequestions that follow .
Theres Been a Death in the Opposite House
Theres been a death in the opposite houseAs lately as today.
I know it by the numb lookSuch houses have always.
The neighbours rustle in and out,The doctor drives away.
A window opens like a pod,Abrupt, mechanically;
Somebody flings a mattress out, -The children hurry by;
They wonder if It died on that, -I used to when a boy.
The minister goes stiffly inAs if the house were his,
And he owned all the mourners now,And little boys besides;
And then the milliner, and the manOf the appalling trade,
To take the measure of the house.Therell be that dark parade
Of tassels and of coaches soon;Its easy as a sign, -
The intuition of the newsIn just a country town.
