In 2007 Livorno Port Authority set about regulating vocational training activities through an ordinance for:
• Defining and setting up basic training and re-training programs with the issue of a “passport” or “certified curriculum” authorizing people to work in the port • Carrying out the monitoring of port worker professional expertise and skills related to operational cycle activities in view of producing a yearly “Training Plan for the Port Sector” • Defining training contents, modalities and assessment criteria through guidelines on minimum skill standards required for each task and/or activity carried out by workers
