The Israeli Korean Prime Minister Cup (KPMC) Qualifier tournament will be held 8-9 April 2015 at Korean Culture Center in Jerusalem – 2 BenYehuda street, Jerusalem. The 5 round tournament (Not final: Main time 45min + Byoyomi 15/5min) winner will have the right to represent Israel at the upcoming Korean Prime Minister Cup. Tournament shall begin Wednesday noon – 3 rounds and on Thursday – 2 rounds. Registration Cost: 100nis till 21 March 120 from 21 March On site registration 130nis Players ranked below 15kyu – half price Monetary prizes for the winners plus additional prizes courtesy of Korean Culture Center

A Story by Shavit Fragman

Recent historical findings shed new light on the departure of the Jewish people from Egypt, thousands of years ago. It appears that Moses, the leader of the Jewish people was a GO player, just like King David, many centuries later. New findings revealed here for the first time, indicate that prototypes of the Goban (The Go board) were made by the Jewish people. Moses used a famous GO technique, discussed later to free a huge group of the Hebrew people, leading them to freedom. The excuse he laid in front of the Pharaoh was GO. Most probably a "Rush to the Desert GO tournament ". More can be found in this book:

The decryption and decoding of ancient Pieces of papyrus parchment from those times, recently found in the desert, allow us to have a glimpse into major strategic maneuvers of those ancient times. Next to them, small Goabn pieces were found as well. Investigators and scientists are eager to learn how the GO idea arrived from Moses to China…

The Biblical story: When Moses was born in Egypt, Pharaoh had a rule to kill all Hebrew boys. He was afraid the Jewish people will grow and become enemies to Egypt. Jochebed, Moses's mother, kept him concealed for three months. When she could keep him hidden no longer, rather than deliver him to be killed, she set him adrift on the Nile River in a small craft of bulrushes basket coated in pitch. Moses was found by Pharaoh's daughter, Thermuthis, who was bathing with her maids in the Nile. It is said that she spotted the baby in the basket and had her maids fetch it for her.

So this is the first step that will later lead to the big Exodus - Sabaki.

Pharaoh kept the Hebrew people under strict supervision and put hard slavery work on them.

Moses approached the Pharaoh and asked him to let the Hebrew people GO. He wanted them to play GO.

The refusal of the Pharaoh led Moses to perform 10 Tesujis

It appears that 2 types locusta were used: Keima locusta and Ogeima Locusta

Moses approached Pharaoh time and again until Pharaoh mentally broke and allowed the excursion. Traveling to the desert, the Hebrew people did not have much to read…

Sabaki is a well known technique of GO. Yoda Norimoto, 9dan pro, in his book "Vital Points and skillful finesse for Sabaki" says: "Sabaki is one of the most intriguing techniques of Go. "In the hands of accomplished players it can seem like pure sorcery. At times the stone can appear to dance with life. While playing lightly hither and yon, the opponent's forces can end up ineffective, over concentrated and misdirected."

Ma Xiachun, 9 dan pro wrote a book "The thirty six stratagems Applied to GO". The first chapter is "Crossing the sea by treachery". Doesn't it sound like Moses Sabaki, leading the people of Israel through the red sea? "The original meaning of crossing the sea by treachery, writes Ma Xiachun is to conceal a secret plan in the middle of some open affairs. Some extremely secret contents are held in an extremely public form.

Moses led the Hebrew people and with great finesse made the biggest Sabaki of crossing the Red Sea (Yam Soof), leading the Hebrew people to safe shore.

Here is an ancient Goban primer used to convince Pharaoh to let the Hebrew people GO. You can see the lines prepared for small portable, consumable Goban.

The Hebrew people did not have wood to make gobans. They invented this light weigh portable goabn primer.

Since they were in a rush, they did not have the time to make all lines of the board. Goban primers are now sold annually all over the country prior to the Pesach (Passover) holiday in commemoration of those times:
