In week 4 of this term there was a renewed focus for all staff on the core principles of PB4L (Positive Behaviour for Learning) and the AO Way (Attitude & Organisation). Another round of 3 way ‘Academic Conferences’ have been successfully completed. All students should now be aware of their academic strategies that are required in order to fulfil their academic potential. At all Year levels students are tracking favourably when compared to recent years, at the same time of the year. I am pleased to say that the recently redeveloped Technology Department has been completed. Students are fully utilising the fantastic working environment. The dedicated staff of the department, led by Mr Sandford, are offering the students the opportunity to continue using the workshops well after the date that the NCEA examinations finish, in order to complete practical work which obviously is well behind schedule. The cultural exchange students who recently returned from Jishukan High School in Japan, presented highlights and their personal perspectives to the Senior assembly. In attendance at this assembly were representatives of Novotel and Ibis hotels, who sponsor this exchange every year, which is hugely appreciated by Aorere College. The Japanese students Aorere College hosted really enjoyed their exchange in New Zealand. You will be aware that a number of students represented Aorere College in the recently completed Winter Sports’ Tournament Week. Once again they did us proud and the summary of results is contained in this newsletter. I look forward to seeing you at the ‘Academic Achievement Evening’ next Wednesday evening at 6pm, where we will once again acknowledge the highest performing academic students across all 5 Year Levels. There is a sustained focus on completing internal standards over the remainder of this term while the focus for Term 4 will be preparation for external exams. PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGEThis very busy term continues at an unabated pace.

The dedicated staff of the department, led by Mr Sandford, are offering the students the opportunity to continue using the

workshops well after the date that the NCEA examinations finish, in order to complete practical work which obviously is well behind schedule.

The cultural exchange students who recently returned from Jishukan High School in Japan, presented highlights and their personal perspectives to the Senior assembly. In attendance at this assembly were representatives of Novotel and Ibis hotels, who sponsor this exchange every year, which is hugely appreciated by AorereCollege. The Japanese students AorereCollege hosted really enjoyed their exchange in New Zealand.
