Land Use Facilities and Considerations
Residential Secure internal bike lock-up, typically within the car park as individual storage cages or multi-usercages with secure access linked to the building security.
WorkplaceSecure internal bike lock-up, typically multi-user cages with secure access, showers, change rooms, personal lockers. Some facilities also provide a clean towel service, clothes cleaning service andbike parts vending machine.
Shopping CentreSecure bike lock-up area preferable located undercover. Should be located in close proximity toareas of high activity and either located in close proximity of the entrance, or supported by cleardirectional signage.
High Street Retail
Perhaps the most basic form of facility, this should comprise a secure rack system within the publicdomain (e.g. the footpath) by way of hoops or similar. They should located in areas of high activityand in close proximity to shop entrances. Grouping large numbers of bikes is not a priority, butfacilities should be well spaced along the high street setting.
UniversitySecure bike lock-up area preferable located undercover. Should be located in close proximity toareas of high activity and best located in activity hubs, e.g. next to a Campus café etc. SomeUniversity facilities also provide bike servicing/repair services.
