Unit yang membuat semua
jaringan, organ, dan sistem
Sel adalah unit
fungsional terkecil dari
semua makhluk hidup.
Sifat sel termasuk homeostasis,
pertumbuhan, reproduksi, penyerapan,
metabolisme, sekresi, iritabilitas
konduktivitas (sel nervus dan sel otot),
dan kontraktilitas (sel otot).
KOMPOSISI KIMIA SEL

Air 60-65%bertindak sebagai pelarutuntuk zat anorganik dan
masuk ke dalam berbagaireaksi biokimia, cairan
intraceluler, cairanekstraseluler (cairan
interstisial, plasma darah)
Nucleus : kontrol pusat sel (reaksi kimia
dan reproduksi) mengandung DNA
Nucleolus: berada di dalam nucleus,
mengandung RNA untuk menyusun protein

pd sintesis protein dan lipid, tempat
melekatnya ribosom (tempat merubah
mRNA menjadi protein)
Golgi Apparatus : bag dr sistem transport
internal sel
Mitochondria : “powerhouse” sel
menghasilkan ATP utk sel, mempunyai
DNA mitokondria
Lysosome : dibentuk oleh golgi apparatus,
dan akan hilang pada sitoplasma karena
mengandung enzim digesti (sistem digesti
dlm sel) autolysis
Centriole : berperan pada pembelahan sel
Dikenal dg membran plasma
Terdiri dari:
* Fosfolipid
* kolesterol
* protein
Sifat :
* hidrofilik bag luar
* hidrofobik bag dalam pada pertengahan
membran sel
Fx : transportasi zat keseluruh membran,
menyediakan binding site utk zat yg
ditemukan dlm cairan extraseluler spt
hormon, berkontribusi pd pembentukan
Osmosis : perpindahan air melintasi
membran semipermebel. seperti banyak
zat terlarut, air tidak berdifusi bebas
melalui llipid bilayer membran sel
melainkan harus berdifusi melalui saluran
air yang dibentuk oleh protein
transmembran (aquaporins).
Transport aktif :
Beberapa molekul dan ion
dapat bergerak di seluruh
membran sel (baik dalam atau
keluar dari sel) melawan
konsentrasi atau gradien
listrik. Gerakan ini melintasi
membran sel mengkonsumsi
energi yang dihasilkan oleh
sel dan disebut transport aktif
Endositosis atau eksositosis
Cytosis adalah tipe yang
sama sekali berbeda dari
transpor aktif yang
melibatkan pembentukan
vesikel membran- bound
dengan diameter 50-400
nm.
Vesikel baik mengeluarkan
isi vesikel dari dari
membran plasma
(eksositosis) atau
dimasukkan ke dalamnya
oleh invaginasi
(endositosis) dalam
hubungannya dengan
pengeluaran ATP.
The Cell CycleSiklus sel: proses pertumbuhan sel
Fase : Interfase, Profase, Metafase, Anafase, Telofase
Interphase
This phase encompasses all of the G1,S, and G2 phases of the cell cycle. The chromatin is diffuse.
It may not look like much is going on here, but there is a lot of activity because the cell must prepare for Mitosis: protein synthesis, DNA synthesis, replication of other cellular structures too.
Mitosis
Mitosis occurs in order for organisms to grow and develop. In order to replenish dead or dying cells such as skin cells, cells in the digestive tract and in the fertilized egg.
There are 4 main phases: Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase. Cytokinesis (division of the cytoplasm) follows and one cell becomes two.
Mitosis: Prophase
Major processes during this phase:
Chromosomes condense and form visible bodies (DNA was replicated in S phase)
Nuclear envelope breaks down
Mitosis: Metaphase
Chromosomes attached to spindle fibers line up in the middle (the equator) of the cell
Spindle fibers attach to the centromeres and other places along the chromosome
Mitosis: Anaphase
The last bit of DNA at the centromere replicates to allow the the centromere to split
The sister chromatids separate and are pulled to opposite sides of the cell
Mitosis: Telophase Chromosomes now uncoil
Nuclear envelope reappears and surrounds the chromosomes
Cytokinesis The cytoplasm and all its contents are divided
between the 2 daughter cells (cytoplasmicdivision)
The red arrow points at the newly developing plasma (cell) membrane that creates the 2 new daughter cells
The 2 daughter cells are exact replicas of the original parent cell – they are clones and have the exact same genetic make-up as the parent cell.
Meiosis The form of cell division by which gametes, with
half the number of chromosomes, are produced.
Diploid (2n) haploid (n)
Meiosis is sexual reproduction.
Two divisions (meiosis I and meiosis II).
Meiosis
Sex cells divide to produce gametes (sperm or egg).
Gametes have half the # of chromosomes.
Occurs only in gonads (testes or ovaries).
Male: spermatogenesis
Female: oogenesis
Meiosis is similar to mitosis with some chromosomal differences.
Gamete production in male• Sperm cells develop from
primary spermatocytesin seminiferous tubules
• Primary spermatocytes differentiate into secondary spermatocytes after meiosis 1
• Secondary spermatocytesdifferentiate into spermcells after meiosis 2
Interphase I
Similar to mitosis interphase.
Chromosomes replicate (S phase).
Each duplicated chromosome consist of two identical sister chromatids attached at their centromeres.
Centriole pairs also replicate.
Meiosis I (four phases) Cell division that reduces the chromosome
number by one-half.
four phases:
a. prophase I
b. metaphase I
c. anaphase I
d. telophase I
Prophase I Longest and most complex phase (90%).
Chromosomes condense.
Synapsis occurs: homologous chromosomes come together to form a tetrad.
Tetrad is two chromosomes or four chromatids(sister and nonsister chromatids).
Homologous Chromosomes
Pair of chromosomes (maternal and paternal) that are similar in shape and size.
Homologous pairs (tetrads) carry genes controlling the same inherited traits.
Each locus (position of a gene) is in the same position on homologues.
Humans have 23 pairs of homologous chromosomes.
a. 22 pairs of autosomes
b. 01 pair of sex chromosomes

Crossing Over
Crossing over (variation) may occur between nonsisterchromatids at the chiasmata.
Crossing over: segments of nonsister chromatids break and reattach to the other chromatid.
Chiasmata (chiasma) are the sites of crossing over.
Metaphase I
Shortest phase
Tetrads align on the metaphase plate.
INDEPENDENT ASSORTMENT OCCURS:1. Orientation of homologous pair to poles is random.
2. Variation
3. Formula: 2n
Example: 2n = 4
then n = 2
thus 22 = 4 combinations
Anaphase I
homologous chromosome pairs separate (one chromosome of a pair moves toward one centriole and the other toward the other centriole).
Telophase I
Each pole now has haploid set of chromosomes.
Cytokinesis occurs and two haploid daughter cells are formed.
Meiosis II No interphase II
(or very short - no more DNA replication)
Remember: Meiosis II is similar to mitosis
Telophase II
Same as telophase in mitosis.
Nuclei form.
Cytokinesis occurs.
Remember: four haploid daughter cells produced.
gametes = sperm or egg
