The Aljafería Palace is a fortified medieval Islamic palace built during 11th century in the taifa of Zaragoza of Al-Andalus.
The palace has had different fases ( it was constructed by many monarch/kings…)
It is considered the most important construction in the Taifa of Zaragoza and the best conserved monument.

It was the residence of the Banu Hud dynasty during the era of Al-Muqtadir.
The palace reflects the splendor attained by the kingdom of the taifa of Zaragoza at the highest moment of glory.

Nowadays the palace currently contains the Cortes (regional parliament) of the autonomous community of Aragon.
In one part of the palace there is a museum with some important elements of Al-Andalus .
And it can be visited by tourists.

The palace was constructed in the IX century
Taifas period (Taifa of Saragossa) :
-The construction of the Aljaferia was ordered by Al-Muqtadir, the powerful caliph. -He ordered the people to construct it because he wanted to show his power. The Tubador tower was the first to be constructed.

They used basic materials (brick) covered with very ornate decoration, specially arabesque.
The most common arches are the polylobed and mixtiliniar.

It is the principal courtyard of the palace. The name was posted by Isabel II in the Catholics kingdom several years later.

Al-Muqtadir called his palace “Qasr Al-Surur” that means “The palace of joy”.
And his throne room was called The Golden Lounge
The building has a mosque (Al- Andalus) and a church (catholic kings)
