The Alarmline II Analogue Linear Heat detection system is a flexible durable and cost-effective form of fire detection, suitable for protecting a wide range of commercial and industrial applications.
Alarmline II Analogue sensor cable is a four core cable which senses temperature variations by continuously monitoring the resistance of the specially doped Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) polymeric insulation. A change in the ambient temperature produces a relative change in resistance which is monitored by the Alarmline II Analogue controller
The Alarmline II Analogue control unit provides monitoring of the Alarmline II sensor cable, configuration of alarm and pre-alarm temperatures as well as enabling simple interface to a main fire alarm system.
Two control unit options are available the simplest version is the laptop programmable unit which provides LED indications only and requires a laptop to configure the control unit. A self-programmable version is also available this provides LED indications as well as an LCD, internal pushbuttons allow configuration of this unit without a laptop.
Pre-Alarm and Alarm thresholds can be set through the control units simple menu options with no need for any graphs or nomograms. Volt free changeover contacts are provided inside the control unit for Pre-Alarm and Alarm signaling to a main fire alarm control panel. A failsafe opto-isolated phototransistor fault output is also provided
No user controls are provided on the control unit although an isolated input is provided enabling remote reset functionality.
As well as monitoring the sensor for changes in the temperature the control unit also monitors for open and short circuit faults along the sensor cable ensuring notification if the sensor cable becomes damaged.
Initial set-up is done by measuring and entering the calibration resistance of the sensor cable removing the need to know the sensor cable length.
The Alarmline II control is also fitted with its own internal temperature monitor, should the temperature within the Alarmline II enclosure reach 100
oC (212
oF) an alarm will
be signaled.
Each Alarmline II control unit can have up to 500m (1640ft) of sensor cable connected to it acting as a single detection zone. Where the sensor cable and the control unit are installed in different areas a suitable interposing cable can be used to make the electrical connection between them, see manual for cable specification.
