History of Ai/E10

In the late 1940s and early 1950s university

professors and biochemists began to explore the

observable benefits of bovine milk. It was not

until the 1980s that a patent was issued on a

proprietary technology involving a special process

incorporating ultrafiltration of bovine whey protein.

Researchers had discov-

ered that pregnant cows

passed on many benefi-

cial substances, includinglow molecular weight

molecules, which effec-

tively maintained the

good health of newborn

calves. Later, it was discovered that feeding this

same ultrafiltered bovine whey extract to animals

of other species also promoted the good health of

these animals.

This development led to the idea that this patented

bovine whey extract might offer similar benefits

to humans. Ai/E10was developed in the mid-

1990s to meet the need for a consistent and pure

bovine whey extract utilizing proprietary technology.

How is Ai/E10 processed?Ai/E10 production begins with a privately managed

herd of dairy cows. This herd is carefully controlled

to avoid exposure to antibiotics, hormones, and

bovine protein. Just prior to giving birth, pregnant

cows undergo a proprietary process to help them

produce a number of natural immune mediators

that will be transferred through the milk to the

young calves.

After birth, the excess milk is collected, separated,

sterilized, filtered (dialyzed), and freeze-dried(lyophilized). Ultrafiltration is accomplished

through dialysis, allowing only the passage of

molecules less than 100 kDa. This process elimi-

nates large milk proteins and other higher molec-

ular weight substances, leaving lower molecular

weight molecules that function primarily function

as messenger molecules in the immune system.*
