Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board (MPIB)
BACKGROUNDThe Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board
(MPIB) is a Statutory Body was established in 1957
which was formerly known as Lembaga Perusahaan Nanas Tanah Melayu/Malayan
Pineapple Industry Board.The Cabinet Ministers made a decision to
abolish the Pineapple Board, and its functions were transferred to the
Department of Agriculture, FAMA and MARDI.
To increase the agriculture sector’s contribution towards the country’s income, foreign currency exchange and employment opportunities.
To encourage investment and to increase foreign investors involvement in the industry.
To manage the pineapple plantation sector and maximise production in a continuous manner.
To improve the Quality Control Programme thus ensuring continuous product quality.
To maintain and strengthen the existing market and to explore new markets.
Objective (MPIB)
To increase the efficiency of pineapple based processing factories and increase high value-added and upstream pineapple industry activities.
To become the information centre and reference to the pineapple industry.
To maintain and encourage the involvement of locals in various pineapple industry projects via continuous consultation and supervision.
To encourage development of an organised industry through research activities and expansion service.
To secure a mutual international collaboration in various fields and also a smart partnership beneficial through technology and exchange of scientific information.

Carry out research on agronomy programmes and also research on processing related to pineapple industry.
Discuss on pricing and grading of pineapple fruit for sale to registered pineapple factories.
Control the production and marketing of pineapple fruit and canned pineapple.
Manage quality control and health regulations at registered pineapple factories.

Collect and store the pineapple industry statistical record.
Provide financial assistance, either in the form of a subsidy or grant to the overall or part of the small farmers sector.

Farmers' Organisation Authority of Malaysia (LPP)
BACKGROUNDEstablished on 14 February 1973.
The formation of LPP was aimed at assisting in improving economy and social well-being
of the agro society under one body that plays a specific role.
farmers' associations were abolished and reregistered as farmers' organisations,
meanwhile, agriculture based cooperatives became member units to PP (Farmers’
Associations).

Muda Algricultral Development Authority (MADA)
BACKGROUNDThe formation of MADA was approved by Parliament under Act No. 70, the Muda
Agricultural Development Authority Act, 1972. Under this Act, the duties of MADA were outlined
as follows:-To improve, encourage, assist and manage
economic development projects in the Muda area, and
To plan and manage within the Muda area all agricultural development as assigned to it by the
State Governments of Kedah and Perlis.

BACKGROUNDFisheries Development Authority of Malaysia
(LKIM) is an authorized body under the Ministry of Agriculture and Agriculture Base Industry that was
incorporated under Act 49, Malaysia Fisheries Development Board Act 1971.
This act took effect on all states within Peninsular Malaysia on November 1st 1971; in Sarawak on July 1st 1973; and in Sabah on August 1st 1995.

BACKGROUNDMARDI Act 1969 has led to the
establishment on 28 October 1969. MARDI MARDI has been fully operational in 1971.
MARDI was established with the main objectives of generating and promoting new,
appropriate and efficient technologies towards the advancement of the food,
agriculture, food and agro-based industries.

MARDI is mandated to fulfill the following functions:-
To conduct researches in the fields of science, technical, economy, and social with regards to:- Production, utilization and processing of all crops (except rubber, oil palm and cocoa),

To serve as a center for collecting and disseminating information and advisory services pertaining to scientific matters, technical and economy related to food, agriculture and

To serve as a center that provides expert services in food, agriculture and agro-based industry such as consultancy services, laboratory analysis, quality assurance and contract
