We commonly regard our experience as divided into two realms: the innerrealm of experience and the outer realm of experience.OUTER REALMThe outer realm of experience includes our experience of objects outsideourselves, such as the external world that we experience through our fivesenses of apprehension: vision, hearing, touch, taste, and smell. Objects in theouter realm include other people and so on. Generally speaking, we typicallyregard objects of outer experience as other than ourselves, therebydistinguishing them from objects of inner experience, which are within or partof our selves.INNER REALMThe inner realm of experience includes our experience of objects insideourselves, such as the inner world that we experience through our innerfaculties of apprehension. These inner faculties include, among otherpossibilities, conceptual cognition, imagination, and intuition, abstract systemsfrom where the artist approaches art.CRISTINA GUTIERREZ- CRUZ, IN / OUTThe external world, color, shape and texture space is the complement ofpersonal experience, which consists of an outer space and an impersonalinner space. The outer space contains that part of the external experiencethat is considered interpersonal or shared, and Cristina, through her abstractpainting and drawing, assumed the task of exploring this region. The insidecontains that part of the inner experience that is impersonal but alsoarchetypal shared by the collective unconscious. In “Painting as Pure Art,” Kandinsky describes art as consisting of two
elements: the inner and the outer. The inner element is “the emotion in thesoul of the artist,” the content of a work of art. This emotion is capable ofcalling forth “a corresponding emotion in the soul of the observer” The goal ofart is essential to draw out the artist’s inner emotion and create connectionsfor the observer. The inner element relies on the feelings of both the artist andviewer to relay the inner element through the work of art.Cristina Gutierrez-Cruz, as mystical artist, connected to the whole, maintainsthe links concerning the duality of reason with the integrity of consciousness. Her connection is expressed in bright colors and strong free brushstrokes, reflecting all universal ideal of freedom. Her remarkable sense of colordenoting her instinctual force and intuitive ability as well as the strength of herline when drawing a rose or her concept of the significant of a rose, "its soul,"she says. By the force with which she expresses herself and remarkable coloruse, certainly we could say that her abstract artwork belongs to abstractexpressionism, but not as a label, but because Cristina is committed to anexpressive art of deep emotion and universal themes.

Cristina Gutiérrez-Cruz
Once you begin to search about how to incorporate the essence of therose into your own life it indeed becomes a fascinating journey. As anancient symbol, the center of the flower represents the essence of awellspring of love, as love is the unifying factor in all aspects of our lives. Each petal of the six petals rose corresponds to faith; surrender; service;abundance; forgiveness; and conquering obstacles. The rose has not onlya history of being a beautiful flower but does indeed contain all thesedeeply spiritual feelings to people all over the world and everywhere. Thatis why I keep painting her in search for its essence.

Cristina Gutiérrez-Cruz
A strong portrait captivates viewers, draws them into thepainting, and engages their attention. Such a portrait paintingcauses the viewer to wonder about the person depicted. In thisway a portrait painting or drawing can function as a biography, telling the story of that person's life. The artist will carefully craftvisual clues to tell the story of the person in the artwork.
