54 Al Moosa Mission

With the appearance of this issue, what we›ve been planning for during the last months has come to light. Praise to Allah and due to the collaborative efforts of all employees, Al-Moosa Gen.

Hospital has gained, for the second time in a row, the Reaccreditation for the Joint Commission International Accreditation whichfocusesfundamentally in the patient safety aspects and quality of care that the hospital has to offer to its patient. Furthermore, Al-Moosa Gen. Hospital along with its partners from King Faisl University, Saudi Emergency Medicine society and Al-Ahsa Chamber of Commerce succeeded in organizing the first International Poly Trauma Conference under a generous sponsorship from His Highness Prince Bader bin Jalawi, the governor of Al-Ahsa. The conference had 50 national and international speakers from different specialties, and it was attended by more than 500 participants from different specialties and sectors. The success the hospital has achieved in organizing this essential international conference came to show and ensure the fact that the hospital›s role and philosophy towards Al-Ahsa community is very effective. The latest announced statistics declare that loses of poly trauma and accidents result in the death of a person and the injuries of four each hour. Thus, it was necessary to take the initiative which aimed to gather all the efforts trying to increase the enlightenment and awareness of the dangers and loses due to accidents. We also hope this conference opens the door towards the improvement of the therapeutic side especially for accidents and emergency patients. We wish that the conference participants have got out with valuable knowledge and effective techniques to be used in diagnosing and saving souls at critical moments. The hospital is taking significant strides towards development, well-planned expansion, adding new specialties and services and hiring very experienced consultants w. We›ve added the specialty of Retina Surgery to be the only hospital offering this service in the region. With this the hospital covered the major 4 sub-specialties in the Ophthalmology Department (Pediatric Ophthalmology –Cornea and refractive surgery – vetro-Retina – Glaucoma). In addition, we’ve added a new service withinthe dermatology and plastic surgey unit which is the hair transplant.Additionally,we opened a new clinic in the housing compound related tothe project of establishing the National Guard housing in whichwill enable us to offer our services to more than four thousand workers in that construction site . We are currently making the final arrangements for running the Polyclinics in the Industrial City in Al-Oyoun City. I really want to grab the opportunity to thank the people working in the Saudi Industrial Property Authority for their trust which they gave us by assigning the task of operating and managing the polyclinics to Al-Moosa Gen. Hospital. Our reader, between your hands is the 9th issue of Al-Moosa Mission. It is a special issue to celebrate and cover international poly trauma conference in addition to the significant medical reports it includes. We tried to consider manytopics related to family health in general, with an emphasis in information and advices about fasting and its benefits on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan. Happy Ramadan and mayAllah bless you all.

Al -Moosa Gen. Hospital in Al-Hasa has announced that

standards for patient care and safety.

Malek Al-Moosa, the Executive Manager of the hospital, mentioned that

the accreditation of «Al-Moosa» from a unique and reliable international organization like JCI is considered as a renewal of trust of what is adopted and applied by the hospital regarding the medical and professional practices. It is considered as a confession of the superior

standards of the therapeutic services offered to patients whereas the hospital pays attention to prepare a therapeutic environment with integrated services. Meanwhile, Dr. Mahmoud Mustafa, Al-Moosa Hospital Medical Director, expressed the pride and honor felt by all doctors and staff working in the hospital to get this international certificate for the second time within three years. In fact, the Joint Commission International (JCI) for accrediting the healthcare organizations was established in 1997 as a division of Joint Commission

Malek Al-Moosa mentioned that the official and international reports and

statistics ensure that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia occupies an advanced rank and records very high percentage in poly trauma and injuries resulting from accidents. This emphasizes on the necessity and importance of paying attention to this issue commensurate with the size of the huge human and materialistic loses. Statistics showed that more than two million accidents took place in the kingdom during the last five years resulting in 30,000 deaths and more than 170,000 injuries. Moreover, traffic accidents in the kingdom lead to a death and 4 injuries every hour. The accidents annual cost is up to 14 billion Saudi Riyal and is expected to reach 19 billion SR in 2014. Some experts› estimates are up to 23 billion SR in 2019. This made us incredibly eager and motivated to execute this conference.

The Top 5 Must-Have Professional Development Books

Fish! A Remarkable Way to Boost Morale and Improve Results, By Stephen C. Lundin, Harry Paul, and John Christensen If you›ve ever been to Seattle›s Pike Place Market, you probably remember the fish throwers - those energetic guys tossing stinky fish around, wearing big smiles and loving every minute of it. This book explores the secrets that keep these guys motivated, even in less than pleasant circumstances. It›s written as a parable, using fictional characters, but it›s based on a documentary that interviewed some of the fish throwers. I watched this documentary about 7 years ago and I still remember the wonderful, simple advice these guys shared. None of the information offered is «mind blowing» but it›s very easy to understand and it›s very relatable. This book will motivate you to keep a bright attitude and learn to truly enjoy your work. From Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap...and Others Don›t, By Jim Collins This book is a high-level analysis of what makes a business successful. Looking at 11 «great» companies, the author evaluates what is necessary to take a business from average to outstanding. This book is often referred to by top level executives, as Jim Collins has built a reputation for in-depth research and analysis. Even if you›re not a business owner or CEO, the information here is valuable for understanding the «big picture» of how companies work. It›s also a great tool for conversing with executives. Being familiar with these concepts can help you demonstrate your commitment to the success of your company.

Awaken the Giant Within: How to Take Immediate Control of Your Mental, Emotional, Physical and Financial Destiny, By Anthony Robbins This book is one of his most powerful and popular works.. While I wouldn›t say the concepts are entirely «new,» he does put a refreshing spin on them. If you›re not a fan of «self-help» you may find it a bit cheesy, but give it a chance if you›re looking for a little boost of self-confidence. The techniques explored here mostly have to do with changing your internal perceptions and the way you speak to yourself. If you›re looking to make some serious personal change, Tony Robbins can really help you get moving. He has a very conversational style and, if you have a long road trip coming up, grab the book on CD. It›s fun to hear him shouting through the stereo to change your life. Who Moved My Cheese? An Amazing Way to Deal with Change in Your Work and in Your Life, By Spencer Johnson and Kenneth Blanchard Ok, I›ll be honest here: this one is a classic, but it›s a little silly. The authors use a parable to explain how adapting to change is necessary for survival. Simple enough. But the story itself is about two mice (yes, mice) and two mouse-sized humans in a maze. You see what I mean? Silly. But the book does an effective job demonstrating the importance of remaining flexible and letting go of fears. The book is short and very, very simple to read. Critics say it›s a little cheesy (sorry, I had to). First, Break all the Rules: What the World›s Greatest Managers Do Differently, By Marcus Buckingham and Curt Coffman I like any book that tells me to break rules! But this book is really about how to find and keep top notch employees. It›s about setting expectations, challenging complacency, discovering talents, and nurturing strengths. The book uses a lot of research to support the basic idea that everyone is unique and relationships must be customized. Still, this is a great resource for anyone who supervises others or aspires to do so in the future

If you›re just starting to build your professional development library, the following ten books are essentials. These are considered the «classics». They are the most widely referenced in business because they offer timeless advice in an engaging way. Check out this list :
