First of all, multinationals should be bringing great benefits to consumers. They could potentially help economies by providing people with reasonably priced, high- quality goods by means of economies of scale and adherence to international quality standards. Instead, however, multinationals often create monopolies and drive smaller local competitors out of business. This hurts consumers by keeping prices high and limiting the selection of available products. Another failure is in the area of human rights. Multinationals could be promoting human rights by ensuring that their suppliers and business partners treat their 4 workers properly. When enough people get angry about monopolies, human rights violations, and poor environmental practices, perhaps multinational corporations will change their ways. Until that time, however, claims that they are benefiting society must be viewed skeptically. *年年年年年年年年年年年年年 。) 1 年年年年年年 Part 1 No. 1 4 No. 6 4 No. 2 3 No. 7 2 No. 3 3 No. 8 1 No. 4 1 No. 9 3 No. 5 2 No. 10 1 Part 3 No. 21 3 No. 22 2 No. 23 3 No. 24 4 No. 25 4
