Skill Development

LSBF School of English students learn more than just the English Language. As a part of London School of Business & Finance, LSBF School of English will aim at developing confidence, as well as strong communication and leadership skills among its students. LSBF’s unique teaching approach, focusing on setting strong foundations in all aspects of the English Language (speaking, listening, writing and reading) while complementing learning with group activities and classroom discussions, will allow students to confidently use their newly acquired skills.

A series of social programmes and activities, in and around London, will promote leadership and communication skills among LSBF students, setting the foundation for work and study within an international environment.

Quality Teaching

All LSBF School of English teachers hold either the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) or the Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults (DELTA), and have extensive experience teaching Academic and Business English Language classes.

Students’ progress often varies, requiring systematic, structured testing to consolidate and evaluate learning. Lesson reviews and progress tests further enable teachers to measure the development of students’ language skills and assess their ongoing performance.

General English

These programmes are aimed at professionals, and future professionals of all disciplines and backgrounds who are looking to improve general comprehension of the English Language. The courses focus on developing all 4 core skills of the English language: speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation.

Academic English & Pre-Masters

These programmes are designed for students who need to improve their Academic English and Study Skills to prepare for university level studies and include Intermediate and Advanced Academic English classes.

Business and Professional English

A series of courses designed for professionals looking to increase their industry specific language skills, the Business and Professional English programmes provide students with the skills to analyse high level business and financial information, write reports, conduct presentations, and develop other professional skills needed in the work place.

IELTS Exam Preparation

The IELTS examination is fast becoming the leading standardised test for English Language globally, jointly managed by the University of Cambridge and the British Council. It is recognised as the standardised English proficiency test for University admission in the United Kingdom, with some institutions looking for scores as high as 8.0 on this challenging examination.

One-to-One Courses

These courses are a unique opportunity to learn and practice English with one of the School’s teachers in a comfortable and quiet environment. General English studies, exam preparation, and business and financial English studies can all be incorporated into the student’s lesson plan. One-to-One sessions are conducted using a variety of learning methods, where teachers can focus on the student’s individual needs and topics of interest.

Cambridge Exam Preparation Courses: FCE and CAE

Highly respected internationally, the First Certificate in English and Certificate in Advanced English are recognized by both employers and universities as true benchmarks of English language learning. Our courses of 10 weeks take students through stringent preparation for these challenging exams.

Conversation and Pronunciation

These courses develop students’ confidence and oral fluency whilst improving their pronunciation, by focusing on phonemes, connected speech, intonation and sentence stress. The conversation classes improve students’ speaking ability, enabling them to communicate more effectively in a variety of English speaking environments. The pronunciation classes address students’ specific and individual diction, enunciation and articulation needs.

Our Courses A wide variety of programmes is available for professionals, or future professionals, looking to improve their fluency in the English language. An extensive range of general, academic and professional courses ensure our teaching is relevant to each student’s needs, aspirations, career goals and objectives. Most courses can be taken on their own, or in different combinations, with a variety of timetables, a choice of 15, 20, 25 and 30 lessons per week and the flexibility to start any non-holiday Monday of the year.

In addition to the leadership and communication courses that are offered to students, students may also be eligible to partake in LSBF’s Professional Qualification courses, studying towards obtaining some of the world’s most recognised professional qualifications:

Beautiful Hyde Park is only a 2 minute walk around the corner where students can go running, walking or just sit and enjoy the views.

Classrooms: Spacious classrooms with comfortable furnishings provide an optimum learning environment.

Library: LSBF campus at Holborn (just a 10 minute tube journey away) has a library and self-access study centre with a range of current media and study materials to assist students to practice and develop their language skills.

Home Stay

Living in a private home is an excellent way for students to practice their English skills with their host families and learn about Canadian life and culture. Conveniently located throughout Toronto, the School’s homestay families are chosen both for the quality of the accommodation they offer and for the care and compassion shown to the students. Various meal plans are available, with all homestays conforming to a high level of standards.

Flat-share

Staying in a flat-share gives students the freedom and independence of having their own room while enjoying the social benefits of living in a house with other international students. Self-catering kitchens and bathrooms are shared but rooms have private facilities with en-suite options. Many flatshares are located in zone two, just 30 minutes journey to the school.

Residence and Hotel

The School offers a wide choice of independent accommodation, from reasonably priced, comfortable central Toronto hotels to superior standard Residences. While there is a choice of locations throughout Toronto, many are conveniently located within a short distance of the School, offering freedom and independent city living.

Executive Accommodation

Customised solutions for both short and long stays are available to executives seeking to make the best from their time in the city. Serviced apartments as well as 5-star hotel accommodations are available and can be arrange to provide for a pleasant and care-free relocation to the city of London. These can also be coupled with limousine pickups from the airport, and other bespoke services.
