ค านาม (Nouns)

Nouns (ค านาม) Nouns (ค านาม) คือ ค าท่ีใช้เรียกช่ือ คน สัตว ์ ส่ิงของต่างๆ ท่ีอยู่รอบตวัเรา ค านาม

แบ่งออกเป็น 2 ชนิด 1. ค านามท่ีนบัจ านวนได ้ (Countable Noun) 2. ค านามท่ีนบัจ านวนไม่ได ้ (Uncountable Noun) 1. ค านามที่นบัได้ คือ ค านามท่ีสามารถนบัจ านวน 1, 2 ได ้ การบอกปริมาณในค านามท่ีนบัได ้ มกัใช ้ a an แทนจ านวน 1 หรือใชต้วัเลขแทนเลยก็ได ้ a น าหนา้ค านามเอกพจน์จ านวน 1 ท่ีข้ึนตน้ดว้ยพยญัชนะ an น าหนา้ค านามเอกพจน์จ านวน 1 ท่ีข้ึนตน้ดว้ยสระ ( a, e, i, o, u ) ค านามท่ีนบัจ านวนได ้ มี 2 ชนิด

ค านามท่ีมีอยูส่ิ่งเดียว เรียกว่า เป็นเอกพจน์ (Singular) ค านามท่ีมีมากกว่าหน่ึง คือ ตั้งแต่สองข้ึนไป เรียกว่า เป็นพหูพจน์ (Plural) ค านามท่ีมีจ านวนมากกว่า 1 ให้เติม s หรือ es ท่ีทา้ยค านามนั้น และเปล่ียนค าน าหน้า

นาม คือ a, an ใหเ้ป็น some หรือใชต้วัเลขบ่งบอกจ านวน

a cat (one cat) (some) หรือ 3 / three cats

an apple (one apple) (some) หรือ 2 / two apples

a brush (some) หรือ 3 / three brushes นอกจากจะเติม s หรือ es เพ่ือให้นามนั้นมีรูปเป็นพหูพจน์แลว้ จะเห็นได้ว่ารูปนามพหูพจน์มีรูปเปล่ียนมาจากนามเอกพจน์หลายวิธีดงัน้ี 1. นามเอกพจน์ท าใหเ้ป็นพหูพจน์ไดโ้ดยการเติม s เช่น mother – mothers student – students 2. นามเอกพจน์ท่ีลงทา้ยดว้ย o, ss, s, sh, ch, x ท าเป็นพหูพจน์โดยการเติม es เช่น mango – mangoes dish – dishes glass – glasses watch – watches bus – buses box – boxes

3. นามเอกพจน์ท่ีลงทา้ยดว้ย y ท าเป็นพหูพจน์ไดโ้ดย เปล่ียน y เป็น iแลว้เติมes เช่น lady – ladies baby – babies story – stories country – countries ยกเวน้ ถา้หนา้ y เป็นสระ a, e, i, o, u ไม่ตอ้งเปล่ียน y เติม s ไดเ้ลย เช่น monkey – monkeys boy – boys toy – toys key – keys

4. นามเอกพจน์ท่ีลงทา้ยดว้ย f หรือ fe ท่ีเป็นรูปพหูพจน์โดยเปล่ียน f หรือ fe เป็น vแลว้เติม es เช่น life – lives leaf – leaves knife – knives wolf – wolves

5. นามเอกพจน์ เมื่อท าเป็นพหูพจน์ได ้ โดยเปล่ียนสระภายใน เช่น man – men woman – women foot – feet tooth – teeth goose – geese child – children ขอ้ควรสงัเกต ค านามท่ีมีรูปเหมือนกนัทั้งเอกพจน์และพหูพจน์ คือ fish, sheep, deer ค านามท่ีมีรูปเป็นพหูพจน์เสมอ คือ noodles, people 2. ค านามที่นบัไม่ได้ คือ ค านามท่ีไม่สามารถนบัจ านวน 1, 2 ได ้ ไม่มี a, an น าหนา้ แต่จะมี some น าหนา้ ส่วนมากมกัเป็นค าท่ีเก่ียวกบัอาหาร หรือประเภทท่ีเป็นของเหลว เช่น bread coffee orange juice meat ขอ้สงัเกต ค านามท่ีเป็นทั้งค านามท่ีนบัจ านวนไดแ้ละค านามท่ีนบัจ านวนไม่ได ้ เช่น fish (นบัได)้ fish (นบัไม่ได)้ watermelon (นบัได)้ watermelon (นบัไม่ได)้ chicken (นบัได)้ chicken (นบัไม่ได)้

การบอกปริมาณของค านามที่นบัจ านวนไม่ได้ ค านามท่ีนบัจ านวนไม่ได ้ ถา้จะนบัจ านวน หรือบอกปริมาณ ตอ้งบอกตามภาชนะท่ีบรรจุ หรือตกัตวงค านามนั้นๆ ในบางคร้ังอาจจะบอกเป็นช้ิน หรือจ านวนน ้ าหนักแลว้ตามดว้ย of และท าเป็นพหูพจน์ไดโ้ดยบอกจ านวนภาชนะท่ีบรรจุนั้นๆ เช่น a bottle of ………../ three bottles of ………….. (บอกเป็นขวด) a kilo of …………/ three kilos of ……………. (บอกเป็นกิโล) a roll of ………./ …… rolls of …………… (บอกเป็นมว้น) a cup of ………/ ……. cups of …………. (บอกเป็นถว้ย) a jug of ………./ ……. jugs of ……… (บอกเป็นเหยอืก) a glass of ………/ …… glasses of ………. (บอกเป็นแกว้) a bag of ………/ …….. bags of ………… (บอกเป็นถุง) a piece of ………./ ……… pieces of …………… (บอกเป็นช้ิน) a can of ………/ …….. cans of …………. (บอกเป็นกระป๋อง)
